I never had the desire to visit the Austin Aquarium but we had family in town and my son wanted to go. An aquarium in a strip mall sums up exactly how it feels. Set your expectations low and get ready to feel sad for a building full of animals. As soon as you open the front door you are hit by the smell of urine. There was a parrot at the entrance missing all the feathers on its head. There are small enclosures with lemurs and other animals which you can use tokens to visit but there is no one around that could assist with t... read more
This place was so interactive, we brought a family reunion group of 36 and had such a great time. Once you get past the initial smell (it animals), it's an awesome family time to be had. Make sure you get enough tokens for all of the experiences. There was a worker named Marcus he was so very helpful in our experience, very professional and knowledgeable in helping our group. 5 stars would definitely recommend.
Honest review - I didn't know what to expect walking into the aquarium yesterday as this was my first visit. Upon walking into the facility you know pretty quickly that you're in an establishment for aquatic life and live animals. If you're expecting the scents and sounds of a Spa, this isn't for you. The next thing you will experience is seeing some select birds freely flying and perching around the receiving area. This was really cool. The aquarium is somewhat smaller and exhibits are closer in proximity than you'd see at ... read more
Horrible place, anyone with a heart can see that these animals are mistreated and neglected. One penguin looked like it was on the verge of passing away, the other had its beak just pressed up against a door looking away from everyone. Luckily my daughter is 1 so she won't remember this, but I left feeling desperate to do something to get those animals out of there. The most depressing thing ever, the city needs to shut this place down. Do no waste your time or money supporting such an evil and cruel place.
Worse experience. They charge way too much and then want $3 for tokens to buy fish food from machines that don't work as in none of them worked. We had to flag down employees to unlock machines at all three we tried. We gave up and tried to get refi d on rest of tokens and were told no. Not no sorry just no. This place sucks
This place was fantastic we had a blast with my 4 year old! Staff was incredibly both times. A fun afternoon feeding the animals and visiting and really just hanging out. Will be back again!
Our son's school decided to take this sad field trip to the animal abuse central here. I unfortunately had to tag along after I swore I would never return from my last visit. Nothing about his place has changed except for getting more animals for abuse. Four South African penguins are put into an enclosure that is smaller than my living room. They stood like statues by the feeding door for hours and do nothing else. Beautiful Macaws incessantly plucking off their feathers due to boredom. The staff and tour guides and arrogan... read more
I would highly recommend NOT coming here. It's so ridiculously overpriced for really nothing super exciting. It was just me, my husband, and daughter with 10 tokens (to buy food and such for the animals.) $100! And that was discounted because my husband was former military. The staff just looks like they don't want to be there. It becomes so crowded so quickly because of how small the place is because it's literally located inside of a strip mall! And most of the animals just were not having it :( It was just a dark, dingy, ... read more
I think it's awesome that teachers get in for free! This made me so happy to get to experience this and possibly consider this as a field trip in the future. This places was packed on a Saturday! There was lots to see and so many different ways to feed the animals. I was enjoying watching others go into the cages and feed them. The iguana likes to get out of his area. It was quite funny and entertaining! I chose to feed the koi fish because they are so funny to watch! There's lot of different photo opportunities and plenty o... read more
