Unfortunately we were not given time to enjoy our lovely Christmas lunch. We were given 5 minutes to finish (an hour and 45 minutes in to our lunch. It was bad management with booking system. We were sent down to the garden basement to finish our drinks. It was outside with a canopy but the rain soaked us. The food and service throughout meal was great and probably deserved 5 stars. Our servers were very polite and friendly however we did feel a bit rushed ( having to ask for items not to be removed before we’d finished; watching my tea bag be whisked away without being asked first). While I appreciate that the tables are “time limited” it was irksome and seemed rude. Bringing two small teapots of of hot water when we ordered tea for 3 seemed a little mean and could be interpreted by some as fulfilling a certain Edinburgh stereotype ( and not one we’d wish to be caricatured by). Lovely ambience: cosy and comfortable. Interesting food, albeit not a huge choice - that often suggests more freshly made.

Lovely food in a lovey atmosphere. Can’t give 5 stars as we were harassed away from table at 2hrs when our booking advised 2.5 hrs for our party size. Shame the inexperienced staff member handled the situation poorly as we would otherwise have left feeling completely satisfied.

We had told family how great this place was. After travelling over 300 miles i can say I was very underwhelmed. My mother is allergic to mushrooms and asked the waitress for no mushrooms on her food to which we were told that should be okay when taking her order. The pie come stand alone with no chips/mash etc as a side which we found bizarre so when 3 of the parties had ordered a side to go with their mash one was left questioning when their creme of mash come out if it indeed was mash as it was VERY runny.
