We had booked a table for Midday, and didn't realise that was the venue opening time. We managed to get into the foyer a little earlier to escape the sound of deafening roadworks outside, and were greeted by a woman who told us pretty sternly they didn't open until Midday (It was about 11.55am) , So not a great welcome. Beautiful restaurant and very cosy. Food was lovely and as we mentioned that they had an offer on saying 50% off food that day, our bill was very reasonable.

We took advantage of the January Sale to try out Badger and Co's food. The food was delicious. My steak was cooked to perfection - pink but not bloody. My friend loved her vegetarian roast and it was ample in size. My scallops small plate was really tasty with 2 scallops. Cocktails were really good. The only little problem was there wasn't a lot of staff so service was a little slow and they added 10% service at the full price value and not the discounted January Sale value which I feel is rather cheeky. First time here and welcome was great and service to start with was very attentive. After our main meal we were asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu and I said yes. This didn’t transpire and we waited at least 15 minutes and it never arrived. So we asked for the bill. We noticed other diners being offered a discount for booking in January and this wasn’t given to us either. Meal itself was lovely but due to the decline in service, not sure we’d come rushing back.
Pricey even for Edinburgh. Extra for chips with steak pie??

Food was ok but we found the staff very rude and slow. Don’t think we would return again.

All good overall really. We had sunday lunch which was fine and tasted really good though the beef was a bit tough at times so I have marked it down a star. Everything else i.e. the veg, yorkshire pud etc were great. The gravy came in a tiny pot which wasn't enough so we asked for an additional pot which they charged us an extra £1 for - really?!
