Deck the halls with baos of holly! 'Tis the season for trying new foods. I was super excited to try bao buns for the first time. It was great that Bao Nine had a few vegan/vegetarian options to choose from and a nice selection of sides as well. I got The Garbaonzo - filled with falafel, tahini and some pickled veggies. My favorite place to eat in all of Philly!! I've been obsessed with this place for a few years now but it takes me about an hour to get to so I don't get it as often as I'd like. I always get the trio for $15 and do Hot Mutha Clucka, Sticky Chicky, and Bao Boa. I usually dine in but wanted to take it home for the first time yesterday. We bought some to go and it was fast and easy. Straight forward menu, simple meals but hit the spot. Dining area is clean.
This is a simple and brilliant idea: put all varieties of meat sandwiches into a bao bun. We ordered a bunch of different ones. My favorite was the Thanksgiving special -- which was, if I recall, turkey stuffing and cranberry sauce. The others I had were good -- the bao is really nice and fluffy -- but nothing was a standout. Easy in, easy out. Good value. The food is impeccable. Great stop for a quick dinner or for a pick up and go lunch.
Food was absolutely delicious! My company ordered a variety of bao buns for lunch and they were a big hit with everyone! I tried the Garbaonzo and the Yenta. Both delicious, filling and flavorful. Some folks mentioned Prime Time was just okay. The side dishes are also something people should not skip out on. I loved the shishito peppers, spicy crunchy cucumbers and Brussels sprouts. All sides deserve a strong 10/10. I will definitely be back and highly recommend getting these catered!
Great tiny spot for fabulous quick Bao buns. Three of us order different kinds and all were delicious! Definitely will be back next time I'm in the area. Service is fast. Space is sparse and neutral but okay for casual fast food.
Great bao place. They only had two vegetarian flavors one is falafel and vegan. Vegan is not on their menu on the wall. The staff was great and place has ample seating.
