Ordering here is such a trip experience. The baos have fun pun-names, but it makes you feel like you're barking. The ambiance is nice; order at the counter and take a seat, you'll get served and return your tray when done. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed by the baos themselves. Although the kitschy, "less traditional" options are fun, they didn't do it for me in terms of flavor.

The staff was great and the food was even better! It was a perfect spot to walk to for a quick bite on NYE.

Oddly enough I really like the fillings Bao Nine has but just not the Bao Bun itself. To me what makes a Bao bun good is the flavor and softness of the bun and I feel these lack that. The bun doesn't have a lot of flavor to it and tastes like it was frozen and unfrozen at some point. Even if that was the case I would have less of an issue if the flavor was there. With better buns my 3 stars would go to 5 stars and I might go weekly (maybe it's better this way lol)

Skip the bowls, very mediocre, but do not pass up the Baos themselves, flavorful, light and fluffy.

Bao Nine serves a unique variety of fusion baos, so don't come with the expectation that you'll find authentic/traditional Peking duck baos here. Some of their flavor combos do seem a little questionable on a bao, like their thanksgiving inspired one with char siu turkey and cranberry sauce? Regardless, of the ones we tried, we found them to be saucy and flavorful.

Interesting place to visit. It is pretty much order up front and food is then delivered to your table. They have a place so you can put away trash and your trays. Service was quick. The place was decorated similar to a dessert shop (I honestly thought I walked into the wrong restaurant). We ended up sharing the threesome where you can choose 3 different bao buns. I think it is cool they tried to make a twist to a bao (it still wasn't the best but very interesting of a concept). The prices for each bao is pretty fair (which w... read more
