The wait is pretty long especially during busy times so it's not really fast food. The food is good and filling especially if you get more than one Bao. It's probably best to order online. There is a good amount of indoor seating with chill music and it's easily accessible.
This place is really good and conveniently located near Rittenhouse Square. They offer 9 bao options and 1 bao special. Yes, 9 bao buns as in Bao Nine. They do carry out and have a space for dine-in. This cozy fusion eatery in center city is inspired by Taiwanese street 割包 (gua bao) We tried their beef, chicken, and pork belly baos which were all so flavorful and juicy, but kind of on the pricier side. They also have a variety of bowls and sides. The interior and exterior of the restaurant are also very instagrammable so def check it out!!
So yummy!! Best alternative for someone like me that loves anything sandwich but was also in the mood for Asian!! Highly recommend.
I'm not a huge fan of Bao Nine. I ordered a the bam bam shrimp bao. It's pricey, and I don't feel like the ingredients really complemented one another (i.e. the veggie toppings). I was upset to see that there wasn't a Peking duck bun because that is the authentic version. Not really sure if this is culture appreciation or appropriation because it really lacks the tie back to Taiwanese/Chinese culture. First time having it only got the chicky chicky bun and it was actually amazing I don't know the other items so can't say how good but definitely get the chicky bun great service as well!
Really fun to casual eating. We love bao buns so this place was perfect after shopping and needing a pick-me-up. We can't wait to come back.
Super simple menu - but everything is so flavorful! Great customer service tbe moment you walk in - the food was amazing. I can't wait to go back & try one of their signature bowls! The atmosphere is quiet, super clean, and the ambiance is perfect for a quick lunch/date. I can't wait to go back!
