Get directionsMy father aged 92 moved to Birkin Lodge in September, the manager and team were very understanding that we were moving him away from the area he had lived for 67 years. A visit was arranged for him to have lunch and view the home. We have visited him at Birkin Lodge on numerous occasions at different times of the day and have always found that the atmosphere is relaxed, calm and welcoming. Everywhere is beautifully kept with homely touches. We are always made to feel welcome by the manager and all the staff. Although my fath... read more

Thank you for your lovely feedback Graham, I will be sure to share this with Sean and the team. It's great to see how your father has settled over the past few months and it's wonderful to have him with us.
Very friendly, helpful and caring. The staff are very friendly. My Dad only went for a weekend but said he would go again.
Business response:
Thank you for your review, it was a pleasure having your father stay with us and we look forward to his next stay.
My Mother has been a resident for some 16 months now, we regularly visit throughout the week or weekends. There is always a warm welcome from the staff and a chat to see how my mother is. The staff members are always helpful and polite. There has been improvement and consistency in the home over the past months since the manager's position has been taken over within the home.
Business response:

Genuine caring and friendly staff.
My relative has been resident at Birkin for one year. I can honestly say that I have no complaints at all. The staff are kind and friendly and have the residents interests at heart all the time. The staff will go to any lengths to accommodate any requests and are thoroughly thoughtful and compassionate.
When I visit my friend staff are always on hand and seem caring. I visited on the 31st August as it was my friend's 93rd Birthday. The lounge was decorated with birthday banners and balloons, they gave him a card, present and arranged a small tea with us, visitors. They also made a birthday cake all so very caring of the staff. My husband and I were very impressed.
The home is very clean and the food is satisfactory. I don't think the care staff are very nice at times when asked about anything they keep the person waiting a long time. I know it can't always be helped as I worked for twenty years in a care home then I retired.
Very good.
Aged 91 aunty was finding it difficult to cope and left the house she had been living in since 1950 and moved to sheltered housing, this lasted 6 months with different illnesses, complete deafness, lack of movement, was very reluctantly encouraged to move to a care home. We had no knowledge of Birkin Lodge apart from the fact that it had single rooms. At first, she was terribly nervous but she met staff who were very helpful. As well as settling her in they were brilliant at answering phone calls to set family members minds ... read more
