All of us say we don't want to go into residential care but for some of us, it becomes the only solution. When this is the case, the person will either thrive or decline and much of this is determined by the attention and care they receive, particularly the time and attention. My father has thrived at Birkin Lodge as they have valued his personality and given excellent care. The facility is clean and beautifully decorated. It is warm and welcoming to visitors. My father aged 92 moved to Birkin Lodge in September, the manager and team were very understanding that we were moving him away from the area he had lived for 67 years. A visit was arranged for him to have lunch and view the home. We have visited him at Birkin Lodge on numerous occasions at different times of the day and have always found that the atmosphere is relaxed, calm and welcoming. Very friendly, helpful and caring. The staff are very friendly. My Dad only went for a weekend but said he would go again.

My Mother has been a resident for some 16 months now, we regularly visit throughout the week or weekends. There is always a warm welcome from the staff and a chat to see how my mother is. The staff members are always helpful and polite. There has been improvement and consistency in the home over the past months since the manager's position has been taken over within the home.

My relative has been resident at Birkin for one year. I can honestly say that I have no complaints at all. The staff are kind and friendly and have the residents interests at heart all the time. The staff will go to any lengths to accommodate any requests and are thoroughly thoughtful and compassionate.
