The comments are, in general, based on the information provided by the resident, as we have not yet been able to go into the home due to the pandemic. Because of her particular circumstances, the resident is unable to answer questions about safety, or value for money, so we have used our own judgement on these issues. Our overall impressions are, from a distance, very favourable, and any issues we have raised, or queries we have submitted, have been responded to very efficiently.

The care and attention given to my father is outstanding, I’m very happy that he is safe and well cared for. All the staff are very personable and nothing is too much for them even during the difficult times of the pandemic.

I had to arrange for my mum to move to Birkin Lodge during the lockdown. Despite my not being able to visit, I know she is really happy here. Being able to see what she is up to via Facebook is fantastic and makes us feel connected. The staff go out of their way to care for her and really do keep her and all the other residents occupied with a whole host of daily activities, so much so she’s often too busy to answer our phone calls. Making the decision to place Mum into the care of a home was massive for my wife and myself, and one we did not take lightly. We visited a number of homes in the area but Birkin Lodge was head and shoulders above others we considered. From the first visit, we got a really good feeling about Birkin Lodge, and though it took Mum a little while to settle due to her dementia, she is now firmly established as a popular resident. Ever since my first visit to my father in August, I have been very impressed by the friendliness and caring attitude of certain members of the Birkin Lodge team. I have been further impressed by this particularly in the unprecedented times we have found ourselves in this year. The team go above and beyond to try and keep relatives and residents in touch with video calls and social media. You are all very much appreciated. Thank you all.

Cannot praise the ladies and gents at Birkin Lodge highly enough. They have been nothing more than accommodating during the whole covid-19 pandemic. Nothing is too much trouble and they deserve the highest recognition. A special mention goes to one lady in particular who has been outstanding. My father moved to Birkin Lodge just over a year ago and I have been generally very impressed with the care and services they provide. There are always staff around to ask any questions and dad’s room is kept clean and I believe he is well cared for. My dad doesn’t want to take part in any activities offered by the home, but the wonderful activities coordinator continues to encourage him to take part in the huge variety of activities she runs which is fantastic.
