I recommend going to the Black Bear Diner in Signal Hill because their workers are always in a good mood. The service here in Downey is alway lacking. The hostess immediately seemed annoyed, we were told there would be a 30 minute wait but we only waited 10 minutes (so that was a plus). Our waitress was pretty rude, she cut us off while speaking and also seemed annoyed to be working. Over all the restaurant appeared clean. The food was pretty average, I enjoyed the waffle but thats all.

black bear diner is a great place to eat for breakfast lunch and dinner! the feel of the place is like a cabin and real cozy, it makes me feel like i'm in the forest haha. the staff is very friendly and the server named Mike S. was such a delight to have as a server! he had a great attitude and i could tell he loves his job! the food here is very tasty, especially the breakfast and deserts they have. everything is fresh and warm and the servers will try to attend to your every need. i highly recommend this place if you're in... read more

Great food, amazing portions, and even better service if you can believe it! Michael listened to us ramble on about what we wanted played with what the menu offered and offered perfect suggestions Really made us feel like part of the family Thanks Michael!!

This was my first time coming here to this place and I fell in love with their breakfast. Very delicious. I would definitely come back. The ambiance is great, it makes you feel like you're in the mountains haha. The service is great too. It is also kid friendly and their menu has a great selection. I recommend this place.

I had hopes for this breakfast joint considering some of close relatives love it. I arrived a little after 8 on a Saturday morning. No wait. We were seated right away. By the time we left around 9:30 am there were people waiting for a table. The parking lot was also full. I really liked the fact that they were able to split our check without any hesitation. Food was good and so was service but something caught my attention. The guy that was taking plates was good at his job I just felt bad that he was picking up heavy plates in a bin on the floor. He would put the bin on the floor and then pick it up over and over again. He said that they used to have a bin on wheels so that he wouldn't have to bend down, put the owner said that it didn't look good so they took it away and now this poor man is hurting his back every time he puts the bin down and picks it up.
