In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. My family and I ate at Black Bear Diner last week and have eaten there 3x already. We tried menu items from breakfast and dinner. The food was absolutely on point - flavorful, fresh, and delicious. The portion sizes are huge! But what really stood out to me was the service; the staff was super friendly and welcoming. If you're looking for a chill place with great food and awesome service, definitely give them a try.

Great service and food. Loved their mimosas! There is always a wait for a table but worth the wait. Highly recommend!

The waiting process is pretty long.. granted the times we have come have been on special events like Mothers and Father's Day.. past times we were given 2 hour wait time! We left but today she said 35 min we ended up waiting an hour and like previous reviewer said with kids just sitting in the car this isn't the funnest.. anyways we decided to wait it was our first time here and food was good. Lots of people it's busy but everything came out hot..

Our family has really enjoyed our visits. The food is great, atmosphere is great and the service is pretty good. The only reason they are getting dinged is because they do not offer the ability to get on the waitlist ahead of time. Having a family with young children it is difficult to sit in our car and wait an hour to eat, when other restaurants have adapted to the times and embraced technology to speed this process up.
