Got the prime rib, not impressed. It might as well been roast beef, and it was dry on top of that. The waiter came past when we had our mouths full and asked how it was and turned around and left. Never came and refilled our drinks, and then came out put the.check on the table, and left, I had to get up and go to the waiter station and get a to go box. This was our second choice last night. First place was closed. We had a group of ten people and they had no warning. The staff handled it pretty well. Our waiter was good st handling the orders even though we did have some perpetually picky people. (Like mayo in place of thousand island on the reuben,half ranch half blue cheese etc.) The food was not great but not terrible. It was what it was supposed to be but nothing outstanding. That said we would probably go back if we were really hungry. The portions are LARGE.

Great Food, great theme, great Environment, I really enjoyed having lunch at the black bear diner, especially when I only have to pay 10.99 for that lunch special with steak and eggs. Really great quality food that doesn't take too long to come out! The only downside is that it's usually packed, especially on Sunday's after church. :(

This review is for the location in McAllen, TX. This location opened fairly recently and like most BB locations is pretty popular, particularly at breakfast times. Since we've visited BBD in other locations on the west coast we knew "what they were about" and for the most part we like the food they serve. At least occasionally. Our first visit was a couple weeks after they opened and there were still a LOT of employees, many still "in training". First time trying this and the breakfast was delicious!! The service was excellent too. It's a wonderful establishment with home cooking vibes to it. Highly recommend this location.

Breakfast was scrumptious! Pancakes were fluffy and sweet plus their bacon is the best. Crisp and thick sliced! Hubby had biscuits n gravy... very tasty but needed a bit more gravy for size of biscuits. Remember the best, breakfast is served all day!

Very surprised at how large the menu was. I now understand why this place is always crowded. The food was very good and the service was over the top. Next time I'm in McAllen I know where to eat.

Menu is huge take your time to read through it. Portions a HUGE so carefully order unless you expect to take home leftovers. BTW the meals come with a homemade yeast Roll as big as your FIST. Would come back.
