This place is newly opened at this location, for about four months. It wasn't too busy for dinner on a Friday. Perhaps Texans aren't familiar with Black Bear yet. Having been to many of these in California, they have the same great menu and large portions. Plenty big portions even by Texas standards. Can't go wrong with their comfort food options. They also serve breakfast all day. They make their own salad dressings and the warm corn muffins are tasty as well. Service was great and the ambiance clean and well suited for the... read more

Ya'll the experience here was pretty sweet. I can at the right weather with my toddler. It was cold and chilly where I came to enjoy the Black Bear Coffee. I love the corner of merch. My toddler love the home slippers. Food was good. What got me was the exceptional customer service, from the greeter to the waiter, to when exiting the door. Sweet people. Will return.

This new spot in the RGV is really bumping! They have breakfast, lunch, and dinner! There are some wait times, nothing new in the valley when something new pops up. Their The Volcano is worth it! It has 3 sweet cream pancakes, 2 link sausage, 2 slices of thick-cut smoked bacon & 2 eggs!

So not to sure about these types of places but we were really surprised. The coffee is no Starbucks, but it is definitely flavorful diner coffee. The chicken fried steak and eggs were great. The steak was well seasoned a cooked nicely and served with THREE eggs!! Now, the clincher was the waffle! Order the waffle! The best waffle we've had at a restaurant! Go try it!

We ordered fettuccine Alfredo and salads. The salads came at the same time as the meal. A little awkward. The fettuccine Alfredo was way overcooked. The Alfredo sauce was good. Service was excellent.

Visited this place that I have seen all over California and I'm glad I stopped here in McAllen. The breakfast was delicious and the portion size was huge! Everything had great flavor and good texture and taste. The service was above average and the waitress took care of us pretty well. The ambiance was good. It had the feel of a diner in the northwest part of the US. I will definitely be back to eat Black bear diner here in McAllen or as I travel through California

What a unique experience at the Black Bear Diner! Our server May was very attentive and knew a lot about the menu. She did everything right as far as super service! She was descriptive and knowledgeable about the brand! She had a pleasant attitude and made us feel very welcome and comfortable which I think is very rare to be blessed to be seated in someone's section who cares about your dining experience! When we first walked in, it felt like we were going into a cabin in Colorado! The menu was like reading off of a news... read more

Waiting time around 9am for 3ppl was about 5mins. Customer service was great, respectful and attentive Meals were served within 10 mins of ordering Kids meals: chocolate chip pancakes w/ whipped cream, fluffy buttery Egg Benedict (creamy sauce, avocado, bacon and spinach on top of English muffin) flavorful!
