Unfortunately, I must rate this restaurant based solely on a total lack of service. Tonight at about 4PM, my wife and I waited at the hostess station several minutes while one lone waitress waited the three occupied tables and two male employees (dressed in Black Bear shirts) chatted at the end of the bar. When it was clear that no one cared to seat us, or even acknowledge our presence, we turned and left. So, we have no idea about either the food, or the ambiance.

Great food, yet I waited to be seated for like 20 minutes with all the empty tables and booths available. I count like 8 places to set down. There Wasn't people waiting outside. One couple in front of us ( me and son). Didn't make sense to me. The tables available were clean and ready to go, so why have us wait so long?
Food was okay when I finally got what I wanted. I didn't get one refill so there is that. Lol

ambiance and food were somewhat fine, the real issue is the service and staff. we were seated quickly and our drink orders were taken almost immediately, but when the drinks arrived, we were given no straws or any silverware. we ordered simple dishes that still took way too long to get to the table. we ordered the tri-tips, cinnamon roll french toast and the fish and chips. Black Bear Diner we had such high hopes for you all. We went for breakfast one time with my sister in law and it was delicious and huge portions. The service was just average but we liked the food so we kept it on our "to go to" list. The next time we went for dinner... I wondered if we were in the same restaurant entirely! The food is good and there are many options, but they play kindergarten music on rotation. Is beyond irritating and for this reason I will not go back. The wheels on the bus go round and round.... Over and over..Really?
Service is horrible, place is dirty. Do not understand how nothing has changed in 3 years
Well I don't post reviews often. But we ordered take out from Black Bear last night. Ordered post roast and cobb salad. Get there and the worker says, 'we don't have pot roast'. Okay, ordered meat loaf. While processing this change order, they 'found' the pot roast. So where was it? It led me to believe that they do not prepare the meals from scratch. Absolute crap, over priced, tasteless. Chicken fried steak was mostly soybean, dry overcooked wxtremely salty.
