My wife and I have enjoyed several meals at black bear, and they were great. But. I ordered corned beef hash and it was more like corned beef jerky. My daughter had a similar experience with a Reuben sandwich. Corned beef should be served pink and moist. Cook needs some training on this.

Not impressed. In my opinion, a large portion of bland food served luke warm is not worth a return visit.

This one still needs work. At 7pm it was completely dark out, but none of their outside lights were on, making it look like they were closed. Cook needs training on how to cook scrambled eggs and hash browns. Loved our BBD in California. This new one in Mesquite, not so much!

It's a new place in Mesquite, finally... something out of the ordinary. We spotted the restaurant yesterday and googled the menu. It looked worthy of a try. We expected it to be busy and were understanding about wait times. Waiting approximately 40 minutes to be seated which we agreed to and did so. After being called for our seat, the hostess then took us to a table where we had to stand and wait for the lady to finish sweeping out from under the table.. I can appreciate the need for cleanliness but having us stand out... read more

So disappointed in this place. Drove from Richardson to Mesquite to try the stuffed blackberry French toast, only to be told they were out. We asked for the cinnamon roll French toast instead and we're told they never have it. Server had not suggestions in lace of that. We could get scrambled eggs and bacon literally anywhere in Dallas and save the thirty minute drive.

It took 40 minutes for the food to come out and the food had a huge hair in it. The environment was fine there service was good.

First time I went for lunch. They did not have the roasted turkey. So, I ordered a salad. Tuna was good but the lettuce seemed less than fresh. Decided to give it another try and try breakfast. Server was pleasant. They didn't have the chicken sausage. Omelette was good, hash browns too crunchy and hard to chew. Biggest problem was the atmosphere was very loud. There were not many customers, but the loudness came from many employees standing nearby that were visiting with each other. Not a fan of the place.

Well. Sadly. Black Bear Diner won't be a place that will stay opened for long. 2/3 times were terrible. Tonight we walked out it's 5:30 pm on Sunday NOT busy at all! We waited 10-15 to even be talked to for drinks and still no one came. I asked a server who's section we were sitting in. He found the server and she started yelling a cross the restaurant, I don't have time cause I have this large table over here. I looked at the "LARGE" table of 7! That means she only had two table ours of 4 and a around table of 7! We walked ... read more
