In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Let's share what the food is about: *Chicken Avocado Club: 5/5 *Chicken sausage scramble: 2/5 - although it was supposed to be on the healthier and it was a lot of food and the egg whites were overcooked/mixed with a little yolk. Today was my birthday celebration with my friend. It was a wonderful experience! Windy our waitress was exceptional!! Bailey the restaurant mgr was such a joy and she brought Black Bear to our table.

I always enjoy coming here for a filling breakfast. Their pancakes are huge! Customer service is always quick and everyone is so kind. Their cold brew packs a punch but delicious.

Walking in the place feels pretty good. It has a nice atmosphere and they greet you when you come in so you feel welcome. The newspaper menu is very unique but I don't think it's as effective as it should be. Ordered and didn't wait long but the food was more than a bit disappointing. The chicken fried steak had an odd taste to it and the chicken avocado club was pretty dry. Once they sit you down they don't check on you so you have to flag someone down if you want something. Had breakfast after church and the food was above average I would say, but the place was very, very busy and they probably didn't have enough staff so it was hard to get coffee or refills or even our waitress. She was good when we found her but just too busy , going there on an off day
