Phil & Stan are EXCELLENT servers!!! Shasta is an awesome manager and makes her rounds to check up on customers and apologizes if the food is taking too long and does whatever necessary to please them. However, ERIKA IS A HORRIBLE MANAGER!!! She is NOT manager material at all!!! When her and Shasta were both managers on the same night, Shasta was out talk to customers while Erika was nowhere to be seen and not interacting with the customers. this is my second visit to the santa maria café and to me it makes no sense at all that the waiter cannot take your payment for the food you have to wait to get in and we had to wait about twice as long to get out the line to get iln was not to bad but when it come to paying the bill there was 4 or 5 people in line to pay their check and the waitress that was taking the payment for the food was selling pies and having tko bkox them up which took a lot of time when the wait person could have taken the bill and collected j... read more

Service was excellent BUT they ran out of cornbread and my Rib Eye Steak was very very raw I ended up taking it home and cooking it again. Mashed potatoes were also cold.

I know your Santa Maria location is new, but you need to fix a few things. First it took over 40 minutes for us to get our food. Our order got lost. I know that happens and our server & the manager both apologized as well as giving us one meal for free. I had the Ca. Eggs Benedict, which was wonderful, but my father had the fish & chips and it was terrible. Frozen fish sticks that were more than half breading. We love Black Bear, been going to them for years up northern Cali, Oregon and such. We were super excited for Santa Maria to open. Food is GREAT. Service, not so much. Just a suggestion, you need a strong customer service staff...down to the bus people. It's never good to be finished dinner, wanting dessert, dirty plates and empty drinks, server is no where to be found...and employees walking by continually. Frustrating! I ordered a patty melt, the cheese was not melted, I requested they melt the cheese. It appeared it was microwaved The bread was chewing, could not see the cheese. The onions were not grilled. The whole patty melt was distorted. The people in my party were not happy with their dish as well. This was our first time. None of us will be coming here.
I had the worst take out order experience ever. My ice tea was not included,my eggs and potatoes where wrong. Than I went back a second time to get my eggs and ice tea that I was charged for. And the ice tea had no ice lemon or sweet n low I requested. My potatoes where not fixed. Got in my car and nope no straw ! Went in a third time. And finally done. Will not recommend the black bear in Santa Maria to anyone. The manager I spoke with was not very friendly at all. It was a waste of my gas.
