The sales man was awesome. He was friendly and knowledgeable. He came and did the inspection and you could tell he was experienced. He did the scheduling for me and I would give him an A+. The implementation was the plumbers were A’s as well and they did a great job. The only complaint is they did not increase the exhaust on the outside to my heater and in return the water heater exhaust had a lot of power and it sucked in the carbon. |To be fair, the furnace IS old (about 14 y.o.) and probably is ready for things to go wrong. Black Lion did mention that the inducer motor would need replacing soon. Ten days later the furnace quit. I was quoted about $650. I went back to my old furnace company and had it replaced for about $450.

I purchasedtheir Big Deal. They contacted me as promised to schedule the appt. They werebusyfor a couple weeksbut thatwas better than I expected. I thought I bought furnace tune up and when they arrived he said he did not work on electric furnaces so I wasted my money

The company never contacted me to schedule the work. I asked for a refund.

He checked things out, but then told us all of the (very expensive) things we ought to have done. One was replace our Honeywell electronic filter. Later we had a plumber hear looking at our water heaters, and I mentioned the filter, and he said, "Don't bother - just buy one of those paper accordion-type filters and change it once a year" - way cheaper. I understand that these specials are a loss leader to find new business, but when it's mostly a sales presentation, it's less than ideal.

They were supposed to get back with us and we had to call to get in touch with them. Finally they told us theycouldn't’t do it unless we did an upgrade.

Responded to an Angie's list "Deal" for furnace checkup. Response was great, service tech came same day as 1st call. Came very late the next day to instal the new thermostat and the heat went on (still pretty cold at night). When the temperature went up to 90 degrees, the summer fan did not work (it worked with the old thermostat last summer). I bought a $2399 deal off of Angie's List for Black Lion to come install a tankless unit, including removal of the existing unit. They came out to take a look, and the gas was already right there on the other side of the wall, so they said it would be a simple job. Ben (owner who came out to give the quote) talked us into an upgrade to the 'much higher end' unit at an increase of $1200.
