Regarding the charge for the service call, the diagnostic fee is $92 + tax. The diagnostic charge is an industry standard. The price you were quoted for the new hot water tank included an extra charge for an after-hours emergency installation. The Angie's List Big Deal for $1099 does not include propane hot water heaters and must be installed during regular business hours. Their service was terrible. I asked them to contact the tenant to schedule the call directly with the tenant, and then call me from the site. They did not - they came and left without contacting me. I then spent almost two months trying to follow up with them to get the results on the diagnosis, and to get them to go back out to the house to service the refrigerant. Tenant called me to say gas furnace would not come on. I had called Black Lion two weeks earlier for an appointment. Their ratings in Angie's list were very good so I decided I would go ahead and accept the delay in getting service as the weather was still warm and the heating still worked. The work that they did was good quality work and the price was okay. I don't know whether the price was too high or too low. I did have a complaint. I think a hundred dollars to do what he did was way a lot. He might have inspected something. Did he do anything? I don't think so. He changed the filter but I can do that for free. He was pretty responsive. I would have suggested that he'd give me a telephone call while he was on his way just to check out I was here. They liked to schedule those things online. They could have reminded me in some way that they were coming either by text or phone call. He was right here at 8:00.
