I got three quotes for a new water heater and furnace and Black Lion beat all of the others. They had good reviews so I ended up using them. The job itself was pretty straightforward, the biggest obstacle being an awkward spot for my air filter. As part of my quote, I made sure that it was specified that if they can't get a 4" filter to work that they would have to install something that fits a 1" filter. They installed the new water heated December 15, 2015 which also included a 10 year warranty. After the install I noticed on my paperwork that the warranty papers stated only a six year warranty. I contacted the service provider and Angie's List regarding the discrepancy in the warranty. Angie's List noted and the service provider told me over the phone they would mail an additional four year warranty to me in a day or two. It has been six days. Provider showed up near the end of the appointment window. He was friendly and I showed him to the furnace in the garage. He promptly began work. Within 5 minutes of beginning work, he told me that he had to stop because of a cracked heat exchanger. He further explained that because of the cracked heat exchanger he is unable to perform additional work, that was required to turn off my gas, and that he recommended replacement ASAP of a new furnace. - He did not actually perform the service, nor even the replacement filter ... read more

I canceled their services, I did not need a heat pump tune up
I bought a big deal for an annual furnace tune up. My Coleman unit was barely 5 years old, top of the line, and had never once given me any trouble. While tuning up, the repair person indicated that the collector box had rust and should be replaced sooner vs. later. Even though my paperwork clearly stated that I was to get my furnace's annual inspection and a filter change, when they showed up they said that they were there to clean the ducts (which I hadn't requested).
