I have nothing against the actual installation work. The work was done well on the scheduled day. The crew reached in time, I showed them all the access points, they kept working till late afternoon and were done around 6:30 PM. Almost 8-9 hours of work in total. The crew was friendly and professional. I am forced to write a bad review for the customer service of Black Lion. AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE! They were responsive in getting the appointment scheduled. The guy was punctual. The price was very good. The problem was the guy told me I should replace the control board and add a surge protector for the cost of $700 even though my furnace had been working just fine. He said the part was showing signs of wear. My furnace is only 9 years old. Then, all the sudden, a few days later when it got cold one night, the furnace would not work! Dear Member, Please accept our apologies. Our Technician should have tested your furnace one last time prior to leaving your home, to assure that it was functioning. However, your furnace features a Control Board that we frequently find to have Failure of the Blower Motor Relays. The person answering the phone was not very helpful and very short , in the deal it states that as an option for an upgrade. While the Angie's List Representative and I called and tried to get a rough quote the woman was not helpful in offering an upfront quote until I mentioned I got other quotes from different company. Because of the demeanor I will be going with someone else.

During the hotweather this summer we found it helpful to circulate the air in our house by running the fan in our furnace. We do not have air conditioning and this helped keep the house a bit cooler. We did this for a few weeks until wenoticed that there suddenly was no air flow and we heard a high pitched sound coming from the furnace. The Motor windings are still operating at high temperatures? 4. The 13 year old motor with a performance expectancy of 10 years is still in your furnace? 5. The $12 "fix" guarantees your furnace? The serviceman serviced the air conditioner and furnace. He then pointed out rust inside the air conditioner unit, indicating that the air conditioner should either be repaired, which would cost much of what it would cost to simply replace the air conditioning unit. He said because of the rust, he would put in some new refrigerant, but did not want to fully pressurize the system because he wasn't sure that it could handle it because of the corrosion. They were allegedly knowledgeable but they recommended a whole bunch of work, like $2600 worth of work and I wanted a second opinion and the second opinion actually contradicted everything that Black Lion said needed to be done. Now I don't know what to do.

We have a 1,600 sf home and wanted a quote on AC. Due to the age of our furnace we learned we needed to replace that as well if we wantedcentral AC installed. We were OK with that. Black Lion came out the same day I called and gave us a quote. We had two other quotes as well, Black Lion came in almost two times higher than everyone else.The rep was pushing a particular product line.The rep was nice, he was punctual and professional, but I felt like their quote in comparison to everyone else's was way out of line for what we ... read more

Unfortunately the same problem happened again after only 1 season. How good could their service have been? I called them back hoping they would step up to the plate and fix the problem. They treated me like I was a first time customer. Demanded $85 for a visit even though I had an existing relationship with them. I was told someone would call you back, but they must have thrown my phone number in the trash and forgotten about me. Unfortunately Black Lion does not know anything about customer service. Buyer beware.
