The deficiency was the technician did not understand how our filter system worked and put it back together incorrectly. After he left and ran the furnace, we had to take it apart and fix it. It was thumping like a squirrel was trying desperately to escape our air filter by flinging itself against the walls.
We ended up getting a refund on this deal because the provider couldn't come to our house to remove our old water heater a few days before installing the new one. We're doing a remodel and needed the schedule this way, but the provider charges extra for this. We found a better deal using our general contractor. I wasn't too happy with the price, but they didn't do any work for us, so I can't comment on the quality of work.
Went well overall but wanted me to pay the sales tax after the water heater was installed. This was not disclosed in the ad. I felt that was not being upfront.
We choose Ben from Black Lion heating after reviewing 4 other quotes. He presented himself as informed and professional and since Angie's List gave his company good ratings we felt somewhat reassured. Unfortunately the work began 3 weeks behind schedule. "Mid Project" asked to relocate equipment to different area as customer had "changed their mind." I purchased a hot water replacement on Angie's List when our water heater broke and started leaking. With guests in town for my son's wedding, hot water was a critical need! I didn't receive a MESSAGE from them by Monday morning - so I cancelled my purchase and called another family owned company who came out to my house on Labor Day and had a new tank installed within 3 hours. It appears that the issue at hand is related not to the quality or professionalism of our service but rather the cost associated with repairing your non functional air conditioner. However, I would have to say that $200 for in home, same day service, is within our industry standards. Specifically, 2 hours labor at $85 per hour and $30 for required parts. We were never able to use the deal. The unit did not fit in our space. The technician was helpful and tried to work with us, but they were unable to. Scheduling was fine.
Overall, Black Lion did a decent job of installing a 4-ton central air conditioning unit. The salesperson was helpful and informative. The installers were friendly, timely and respectful. They cleaned up the area very well. The price for the work is very reasonable. I am using the AC today as it's warm out and it seems to be working well. However, I'm giving them a "B" rating overall. By the time they got there, the unit had been stolen as the house was vacant. We ended up applying this deal toward something else.
