We and all of our pets have been customers of this business for the past 9 years, where we have spent thousands of dollars in care and meds. This last episode there on Friday, Sept 24th, was the last straw. We had an adopted older dog for the past 3 years, who had developed health issues like diabetes and blindness and loss of hearing and occasional disorientation, but we loved and cared for him until the sad end. Sometime between Thursday night/early Friday morning, he unexpectedly suffered an episode where his disorient... read more
Business response:
Dennis, we're both saddened and very sorry to hear about the passing of Tucker -- we know you gave him an amazing life. Our team is so sorry we weren't able to accommodate Tucker's final visit at the time you needed. We wish we could have helped you through the end of Tucker's life but knew that the process would have felt very rushed with a "fit-in" appointment. We wouldn't want to put a grieving family in that position. Our hearts go out to your family at this sad time. All the best, Brentwood Family Pet Care
I am so sad to write this review but I feel I have to be honest. I knew this office had a main goal of making money but . . . I truly believed Dr. Johnson cared about my dog and was sickened over her kidney failure diagnosis. I have been troubled by years on the amount this vet office and I am sure most others charge for medications. I am very ok with paying high rates for quality veterinary care as these doctors have very expensive schooling to becoming a licensed vet but I am truly troubled by marking medications up 100'... read more
Business response:
Michelle, we assure you that our team cares very much about every pet we work with here. Although we did get the message you had called, the way it was worded didn’t sound like you WANTED a call so much as to let Dr. Johnson know, you would be OK IF he wanted to call. I am very sorry for the misunderstanding and also for your loss of Willow. Our thoughts go out to you and your family. Please let us know if we can do anything for you. All the best, Brentwood Family Pet Care
Took my healthy dog here for the first time for tooth extractions and he died. I was told he was given anti anxiety medication and then given anesthesia and within 5 minutes started having labored breathing and his heart rate dropped. I've since learned that other people have had dogs pass away here as well when they were put under for teeth cleanings! On the phone the details they gave my father were signs of too much anesthesia. They also told us he was very anxious at first. I'm still so angry that they were after the mon... read more
Always on hold when I call ...like I said the front people are rude especially older lady(Laurie) I think is her name...$1400 for neutering.... excessive! Time to find another vet!
Business response:
Kathy, while we're happy to hear that your experience with our physicians has been good, we're sorry if any other part of your experience hasn't been what you expected. Our front desk team cares a lot about giving you everything you need, and we know they're committed to being honest, fair, and kind. We appreciate your patience and wish you the best. Sincerely, Brentwood Family Pet Care
I took my cat in for routine vaccinations and claw trimming. I had warned them that she would bite (even though she is missing many teeth) if they hurt her and were not holding her correctly. Apparently she bit the technician and today I received a visit from Animal Control and was given a $100 fee! The officer acknowledged that it was a provoked bite but since they reported it he had to follow up. I am furious with their very poor care and a fee that was their fault. In the past I have not been happy with their pushing... read more

We're very sorry to hear your visit made you feel this way, Lorraine. Whenever someone gets bit we are required to report it. Unfortunately, cats are rarely happy about a trip to the vet. Sometimes they act like their body is made with rubber bones and even though we have very specific protocols in place to ensure our employees and pets are safe they still find a way. I'm also sorry you feel in the past we have Pushed services. That is never our intention. Instead, we want to make sure you have all the options for servi... read more
Make sure you check the medicine price online before paying them. My dog has seizure attacks and he takes phenobarbital. When I went there for refill they asked over $200.00 for 60 tablets! I said no way, let me check the prices online. The receptionist went back to check with the manager and came back and said sorry there was a mistake. Well now I lost my trust to these guys. It means every tine I have to check the prescription price or change the vet! Not cool at all!
Business response:
We sincerely apologize for the miscommunication, Benjamin. We can assure you that this was an honest mistake, a typo error when entering inventory, and we would never intentionally overcharge a customer for their pet's medication. Please give us a call if there's any way we can regain your trust.
I took my dog to Brentwood Family Pet Care (BFPC) before Christmas 2020. He had difficulty breathing and terrible diarrhea. They gave him medication for the diarrhea and took blood tests that showed he had a low protein level. On two separate days, we visited BFPC and $1,798 later, they gave him a medication (that didn't work) and the test results! No diagnosis. No plans. He wasn't improving. I took him to a previous vet: Bishop Ranch Veterinary Urgent Care in San Ramon. On Dec 22nd, they diagnosed fluid surrounding his lun... read more

Georgi, working with us should mean that you feel taken care of, both in terms of your dog's health and your budget. We're sorry if that wasn't the case this time. We do everything we can to make sure all of our methods and procedures accommodate your dog's health. Any part of our service that prevented us from doing the best possible job is something we take seriously. It sounds like some mistakes were made this time, so we want you to know that we're listening, taking them seriously, and looking into them. If you'd like to... read more
I guess it's nice to get a response now, I just wish when I walked in there 4 weeks ago sobbing, asking for help and was handed Pamplets for credit instead (which with no job as I stated then, I can't get approved) that I was heard or felt heard and not told a outrageous quote as a "least option" I wish then and when I left sobbing messages that those were at least returned (did you all sit around and laugh at them, did it go anywhere I mean why not even a courtesy call then) and if you aren't willing to help you could of d... read more

Dawn, I'm sorry you left feeling this way. You know, from being your veterinarian since 2017, that we do care about you, Twix, and the other members of your pack. I'm sorry too, for the misunderstanding about the total cost to get Twix the meds she needs. I will try to clear things up here, but please give us a call and we can explain further. First, we must have a current exam before we can refill her medications. This is the law and it allows us to ensure we are taking care of the whole dog, not just a known conditi... read more
One of the best places to go for your pets health. The real issue is the staff are not enforcing or paying attention to patrons coming in without masks. On 3 separate occasions within a 1 hour time span customers came in without a mask. I even asked one of the customer service people if she has noticed people coming in with masks and are they enforcing those rules and she said she did not notice. Be warned, people are walking in and out without masks and not one person working at this place stopped them. Wondering why more c... read more

Chett, the most important thing to us is keeping our guests, team, and community safe while still providing top-notch care for our patients. We really appreciate you bringing this to our attention -- we need to be more diligent to ensure everyone that walks through our doors are abiding by the rules we have in place. Please give us a call if you'd like to discuss this any further with our team. Best, Brentwood Family Pet Care
