Dr. Olsen at Brentwood Veterinary Hospital (BVH) makes assumptions rather than doing thorough examinations on pets. After my dog was diagnosed by her with Cushing's in January, I brought to her attention that his abdomen was contracting very hard when he breathed. If I could give zero stars I would. They charged us almost $900.00 and could not give any sort of diagnosis as to what was going on with our cat. We changed his food and he was fine. This place is a complete rip off and prey on people who are worried about their pets trying to up sell us non stop over the phone and told us they could squeeze us in but did not tell us they would be charging us an extra $150 for it? Bunch of thieves. Took my dogs there for a long time. Would tell me they did tests on my dogs and never should the results. The last time I took my dog for the same thing they told me didn't go far enough for the test the first time so I would have to pay them $1100.00 to get the test done. I requested the results which was sent to me and it was the same test they apparently did the first time which I was charged $850.00 for. Also my dog had foot issues which they said was fox tail. I took my eight month old kitten to Brentwood Veterinary Hospital because he was sneezing due to allergies. He had no other symptoms such as fever, coughing, nasal discharge, etc. I am a kitten foster and have been fostering for 25 years, so I have experienced many illnesses including allergies in kittens. I asked for a prescription for Cyproheptadine which works well for allergies. The Vet was not familiar with Cyproheptadine and stated it wasn't a medication they have at Brentwood Vet. I will concur with the previous review, reception is losing business for this business. She was so rude actually told me I could go else where! I did! Just let me say that Walnut Creek veterinary is first class!!

Office staff is RUDE and horrible. Can't make it past the receptionist- she won't schedule you if you're not an 'active' patient. Went here years ago and had a great experience. Tried to get my dog in for an appointment- she confirmed they had appointments available but refused because it's been 'years' since we've been there. Guessing the original owner/vet isn't active because it's definitely gone down hill. Definitely in it for the money and not to care for sick/injured animals. 03/30/2021 I had been taking my dog there for 2 years and yesterday I called to find out if I still wasn't able to go inside with my dog as she has an appt. Laura told me I couldn't. When I told her my concerns about that she offered to cancel my appt. I told her no I had no choice now because I wanted my dog to be seen. Her reply was "you always have a choice, you can find another vet".. WTH! What kind of rude reply is that? So yeah I cancelled the darn appt and I am now looking for another vet. We've been using Brentwood Veterinary Hospital for over a decade, but I finally had to stop going there. Dr. Olsen tends to give you the worse case scenarios which scares you into getting services your pet may not need. The last straw was her diagnosing our dog with pancreatitis; which our dog didn't have. We spent $1300+ on dental cleaning and extraction in 2018. I had a positive first experience; however, I was disappointed at our treatment after Beau had an adverse reaction to two shots he received. His flu shot update was due and I asked if he could also get his rabies as the same time. No vet was necessary the techs could handle it.
