I'm disappointed at their unresponsiveness and coldness. I saw them last Tuesday and they discovered that my dog has a tumor- most likely cancer. I was told that surgery wasn't a good idea and given the choices of euthanasia or bringing him home with antibiotics and pain meds. I chose the latter and he's been doing reasonably well. He's eating, responsive, and more energetic. However the tumor has become obvious and is growing exponentially. This morning the area around his tumor began dripping blood. We have been going to Brykerwood Vet Clinic for many years with 5 different pets. The last time I went to Brykerwood I had two cats with severe respiratory infections, spending close to $1000 on treatments and medical care. After today I will never go back. I said that once before several years ago when a member of the office staff was very rude and insensitive regarding the death of one of my pets. I've gone to Brykerwood on and off for over 15 years with different pets. Recently I had an experience that I just need to share. I have a large breed (mastiff mix). He is all around a super sweet guy, with exception at the vet. During one of our visits, one of the vets was trying to force milky liquid down his throat and he snapped at her. I would agree with most of the negative things I've read on here like the front desk staff is rude and unhelpful and the care is very impersonal (different vet and tech every visit). However what bothered me the most about this place is that most of the care is done in the "back room" and not with the owner present. As far as seeing a different vet and tech each time you came here all a client has to do is ask for a specific Dr. or tech and we will be happy schedule an appointment with that specific person. Just make sure, before you leave their offices, to count the pills! If you do not, it is your fault! Also, yesterday, Tuesday, August 9, 2011, I pulled my 3 dogs and my son's 2 dogs out of Brykerwood Vet. Clinic! They know why! this place is so hit or miss. bethany moore - one of the vets - basically sucks. she has consistently half-listened to my explanations about what's going on, doesn't ask follow up questions, and then gives me minimal information about what she thinks is wrong. consequently, i have spent 800 dollars here over the last few months because of my dog's recurring allergies... i saw dr. moore 4 separate times, and it wasn't until i happened to get dr. baker that i was given the time of day. dr. baker sat down with me for 10-1... read more
This place makes me miss my vet even more than I already did... Alas, University is now closed. And I don't like the dealings that I've had with the emergency vets in this town (which is, alas, where my vet moved). I digress. I apologize. This was quite possibly the worst vet experience that I've ever had. Fair warning, STAY AWAY! If you enjoy getting ripped off, please by all means make an appointment with this Vet Clinic. I've used this vetinary twice now, the first time to take my dog in and they did a OK job of seeing her, diagnosed her in the parking lot, but given her condition understandable. The second time around my girlfriend took our dog, Jersey in for a cronic condition stemming from a years old surgery. I have been consistently underwhelmed with the quality of care that my dogs received at Brykerwoods. Yes, it's easy to get an appointment. And yes, the vets were able (most of the time) to "fix" whatever happened to be the problem in the moment. But the service was consistently impersonal. We never saw the same vet twice, which meant explaining my dog's lengthy medical history every time we walked in the door. I never got the impression that they truly cared about me or my pets.
