I have been a regular and fan ever since it opened. Yesterday was atypical and horrid: service awful, food burned, guest sick from the food, prices too high.
First time ever that service was poor. He acted annoyed to have to deal with us the moment we decided not to have anything from the bar. Disappointed in service.
Complained about chipped dishes 3 times. Should not happen in a restaurant of this caliber. And especially after I already pointed it out to the manager
My daughter(s) and I have been going to Fiorello for many years before the opera or NY Phil. We had a very disappointing experience last Friday; Pros: 1. Good cocktail 2. Tasty entrees Cons: 1. Salad and entree brought out TOGETHER within only a few minutes of placing order. 2. Rock shrimp entree, although tasty, had very few tiny shrimp. 3. Bit down on a piece of plastic in my tartufo. 4. So this was a very upsetting experience - booked this many weeks in advance pre show in Lincoln Center. I guess all of these restaurants overbook so you end up standing in some tiny spaces being constantly asked to move, getting pushed while you are waiting for your table. Super unpleasant wearing large coats etc. Finally, we get a table they had opened the outside door and shoved a table inside just in front of it. Caesar salad was terrible. The lettuce was not fresh and leaves were brown and clearly not from a new head. Service took forever and the waitress was really annoying and overly friendly. Not what I’ve come to expect from Fiorello’s.
I must have missed the supposed charm of the place-to me it just looked like another crowded, commercial after-work drinks and burger place, thoughits obviously Italian and caters to the affluent Lincon Center and UWS crowd. Chicken Parm was flattened like a pancake to make it look substantial and was tasteless and lacking texture. Toppings slid off the modest sized pizza, and it had a minimum of cheese. Have been dining here for years and years, but this experience was different and not good. Service was abysmal. Food came out insanely fast and had clearly been sitting under some sort of warming element for a while as our pasts dish was super dry. Had to flag down a server several times just to ask for more water and such as did other tables. The restaurant has always been cramped and lively., however, this time, it was chaotic. The waitress was not attentive to my dining party. We were missing plates to eat the appetizers and utensils for one guest. We had to constantly try and get her attention. Not sure if it was because the restaurant was very crowded and there was insufficient number of wait staff to accommodate the crowd of people.
