ATTENTION: Caring Hands is your best friend when you're cutting them a check, but when you have an emergency, "caring hands" is FAR from what they offer. As a former advocate for CH, I can attest that the nurses/doctors are great. However, the same can't be said for the staff member who is the cause for this post. When I called in with an emergency - my puppy profusely vomiting, shaking - less than a week after I went to the vet for th same issue, I was told "sorry, we don't have any open appointments tonight, but we ca... read more

Business response:

Thank you for your review and speaking with us on the phone today. We understand how stressful it can be when your pet is sick. It is always our intention to provide information and medical care that is in the best interest of the patient, because of this, we may offer that a patient go directly to an emergency facility that is able to provide 24 hour care if needed. We clearly did not communicate this in an effective and positive way. We sincerely hope that your puppy starts feeling better soon.

Although the veterinarians are kind and helpful, the office is disorganized. There is ALWAYS at least a 20 minute wait. My dog had a broken foot, so I had to take him weekly to get his cast changed. I did not want to find another vet, so I just dealt with the wait. I ended up leaving this Saturday after waiting for 25 minutes. If the staff was more respectful of people's time, this would be an excellent animal hospital.

Business response:

We understand how frustrating it can be waiting for an appointment. We would love to be able to speak with you about your experience. We are always striving to provide the best patient and client care, and would appreciate your perspective on how we can improve. We will send you a private message with the direct line for one of the business owners. Thank you again and we look forward to speaking with you!

This vet is atrocious, they completely misdiagnosed my dogs limp (after I told them she jumped off a couch and yelped), they said it was her hip dysplasia when in fact it was a tear in her meniscus and cruciate ligament. They charged me 325 dollars to remind me my 8 year old dog had hip dysplasia after watching her walk around the little room for about one minute. They were more anxious to charge me for blood work so they could medicate her instead of taking an X-Ray (cheaper than blood work) which would have shown the iss... read more

We had a horrible experience at Caring Hands recently with a vet named Dr. Nagel during our yearly visit. I would not recommend her to anyone. Her bedside manner is atrocious to the point where we had to stop her from using force and upsetting my very cool calm and collected animal -- instead of taking 30 seconds to calm her down (the animal was absolutely fine with the vet tech and comfortable until Dr. Nagel was very rough with her). She made what is usually a pleasant experience extremely stressful for my animals. When we... read more

We care immensely about your experience and your pets experience at our hospital. When it was brought to my attention that you wanted to speak with an owner after your visit, I immediately came into the exam room. I reassured you that the comfort of you and your pet were very important to us and our goal is to always make the appointment as stress free as possible. As promised, I did talk with our doctor about all of your concerns and, as per your suggestion, I placed your preferred doctor at Caring Hands for your future ... read more

I would give them no stars but you have to pick one. The problem with these vets is that they are constantly trying to upsell you. This means you can't trust any of their diagnoses because all they are trying to do is get money out of you. I wanted to adopt a new kitten and asked for an estimate on spaying and declawing - they quoted $1000!!! You would have to be mentally insane to pay that!! When I got my first pet spayed - it was $100. When I later got her claws out it was another $100. (obviously not at this vet). ... read more

We won't be returning here after a very frustrating experience. In preparation for boarding our dog, I asked the kennel to call CH to verify that she was up to date on vaccinations. The kennel said they were told that our dog's distemper vaccine was expired. I thought this was odd, as it had been only about 11 months since our last visit, but made an appointment for the next week. After being kept waiting for 45 minutes, the vet tech was unsure what the status of the distemper vaccine was and said he would have to ask ... read more

Caring Hands has a great friendly staff. They are really GREAT with routine care. I agree with Karen (below) in that their rarely on time and it seems that their emergency fees are a bit of a scam. However, I scored them low because they are not skilled at diagnostics. They were my regular veterinarians for six years. In that time my dog had two major health issues--a cancer like growth for which they recommended amputation of the limb (the other vet hospital just removed the lump and tested it--turned out it was not cancero... read more

Caring Hands was the first vet we went to when we got our puppy (we've transferred since then). We are first time puppy owners so finding a patient, knowledgeable vet was extremely important to us. We first saw Dr. Garcia at our first visit. Now, I'm not one to publicly bash or embarrass others, but I feel as though this review is needed in order to warn others who are considering going to this vet, let alone, have their loved pets see Dr. Garcia. Dr. Garcia is rude, awful and not very knowledgeable. When we first met he... read more

I brought my cat Leo into this facility for the first time a couple of weeks ago, having moved to Alexandria in July. Leo was having digestive issues/a lot of hairballs/fast weight loss. Unlike others who have posted reviews, I had no trouble booking an appointment, and the front desk was couteous and I got into the exam room quickly. The tech was also competent, although she did give me the impression she was a little rushed. It was the vet who unimpressed me. I felt as thought she didn't take even a moment to make friends ... read more
