Leaving the vet's office carrying a box with the body of our 21 year old cat, with tears streaming down her face, the first thing my 13 year old daughter could say was "Well, she laid on quite a guilt trip didn't she?" Our cat had gone from over 14 lbs. down to 7. To rub his shoulders now was rubbing bones. He had diarrhea. In the previous 3 days he had stopped eating even fresh canned tuna. We talked as a family over a two-day period to take the humane route and put him down. When the vet Dr. Strek came in the exam room, sh... read more

Extremely disorganized, send you an email to make an appointment, once you make one and show up, they say, "why are you here"???!! You are not due for another 2 weeks!!! If someone or the system did not read the notes and I made an appointment by mistake, the least they could have done is to call or email me and not cause such a inconvenience for me with a very energetic 4 months old puppy. Just FYI I have used this place for years and something has changed.

Business response:

Hello Nersi, Thank you for providing your feedback. We wish to address the confusion regarding your recent visit to our veterinary hospital. It is important to note that we attempted to correspond with you via email to schedule an appointment for two weeks. We regret any inconvenience and would like to assure you that we are taking measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future. Your loyalty as a longstanding client is deeply appreciated, and we are grateful for your bringing this matter to our attention.

WARNING: DANGERIOUS NEGLIGENCE I took my pet to Caring Hands Animal Hospital for pain, difficulty in walking, lack of appetite and lethargy. I provided the medical information from the week before. Instead of fully assessing the condition of my pet, the vet sent us home with pain killers. My pet died because of inflammation! A blood work performed at the time of the visit could have saved his life. See the grave photo of my fur baby. Do not trust the diagnostic opinion of the vets at Caring Hands Animal Hospital. Sending a ... read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. The negative reviews surrounding this vet being greedy and rude are 100% true. I have been taking my animal here since her puppyhood. I always have a negative experience. They are not equipped to see dogs. I think this place may be ok for cats. But forget it if you have a dog. They think spreading peanut butter on a wall in their claustrophobic exam rooms is a good environment for a dog. It's not. The staff here is vapid. They have an unwelcoming environment. Their place also seems dirty. ... read more

Business response:

We are sorry to hear about your experience with us. We employ various techniques to create as much of a low-stress environment as we can for our patients and find that peanut butter works for a lot of our nervous pups, but understand that others may need alternative options which we are always happy to provide. If you would be open to discussing your concerns with our practice owner or manager, please give us a call at 240-205-8300. We hope to speak with you soon.

This place has been seeing my dogs for 6 years and I have always put up with their bad treatment ! I called before they were closed one hour before . Because my dog was hollowing in pain and they said since they are understaffed I have to pay 5x the Amount ! I have has numerous bad experiences with their rude doctors with zero CARE for my pets ! I do not recommend anyone go thete . They care only about over charging you .

Business response:

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We understand the frustration in seeking care for your dog. We see our patients by appointment and do our best to fit urgent care appointments in, but are limited in the time and staffing we have available as we are not an emergency hospital. We hope that you understand the position we are in during this difficult time and that your pup is feeling better.

I do not like this vet. They had trouble putting my dog to sleep--took four tries to find her vein after they'd administered the first sedative. We both were in agony. When I returned (giving a second chance) with my new puppy, they tried the hard sell on vaccines for Lyme or something like that without even providing literature or a clear explanation upfront. The tech made me feel awkward for asking about costs upfront. In order to secure Flea meds for the first time, I was required to pay $100 for a two-minute exam. I don'... read more

We are disheartened to hear about your experience with us. We have reached out to gain more insight and to learn how we can improve. Please return our phone call to discuss your concerns further. We hope to hear from you soon.

This review is for Caring Hands Animal Hospital in Rockville, MD. Our Snorkie dog Muffin, had a kidney stone some while back. The vet put her on the dietary SO food, and told us she has to stay on it the rest of her life. We initially bought the food from the vet. The kidney stone cleared up, and I started buying the food on Amazon. I found that chewy.com is cheaper. So, I ordered some from them. Chewy contacted the vet to confirm the prescription. The vet denied them, saying that Muffin first needed an exam before they wou... read more

Business response:

We are disheartened to read your feedback. We apologize that the reason an exam is required was not made clear when your request was submitted. Prescriptions, whether they be for medication or diets, legally require an up to date physical exam in order to be approved or filled. We not only want to be compliant with laws but also want to make sure that any prescription is still appropriate for the pet. We hope that you understand and we will always be here if you need us in the future.

First and foremost I was actually quite pleased with their service until recently eventhough I've been getting too many "reminder" emails from them (I've previously unsubscribed from their mailing list). I got an email saying I can access my pets' online medical records via a website called VitusVet. I saw a note created by a vet I didn't see, Katherine Rodriguez DVM, stating that I need to be "educated on kitten vaccinations" and that I seemed "a little confused". They wrote that note because I declined a 3rd feline distem... read more

Business response:

Thank you for your feedback, and for speaking with us on the phone. We were so disappointed to hear about your concerns with the communication regarding the vaccine for your kitten. We are always open to, and welcome feedback about our service. Without it, we will not be able to improve. Collaborative care is a cornerstone of our medicine and we hope to continue to work with you to care for your pets in the future. Please feel free to reach out to us directly if you have any future questions or concerns.
