We contacted this company because our contractor forgot to include electrical (lighting) for a new portico that we are building. Arlington County required a permit for this, but it was not in our building permit already approved. Certified Electrical said "no problem" and got all of the necessary permitting done at the same time as they did the work. They came out that week and completed everything in one trip. The guys even gave us an estimate on some additional work we were looking to do. We were extremely pleased with the... read more

They didn't ground the box properly so it didn't pass inspection the first time. They fixed it so that it would have passed but it seems like something they should have know the code rules for and done the job properly the first time.

Right off the bat I’ll state that after he arrived, I (a 50 year old woman) had to provide and carry a stepladder from my garage to the upstairs for him to access my attic. At first he said he would need to damage the drywall to connect to an electrical switch. He fumbled around for awhile and then stated that there actually happened to be a junction box at the recessed lighting below that he could use - not sure why it took so long to figure that out. He charged me for an hour and a half of work to connect the already insta... read more

Gary was very responsive and quick to respond to emails. However, he seemed demeaning and a little rude in his emails. While he did see pictures, he never visited the potential worksite. He also quoted almost $1000.00 more than other electricians. Given everything, it seemed like he didn't want the job and did everything not to get the job rather than just saying he either didn't service the area or didn't have the resources available.

Talked to a "Gary" to get an estimate. When he found out the job would entail cutting holes in the plywood ceiling to install the recessed cans (duh!), he said "that's a carpenter's job because they'd be cutting wood, and THAT's what a carpenter does". I told him that, of the other estimates I'd already received, none of them made any mention of needing to also employ a carpenter, too. "Oh, so you have other estimates? Well, you should go with one of them...we'll have to decline." He was VERY condescending and borderline rud... read more

Alan came to repair the lamppost. He remembered when he came previously, that I was having the house pressure-washed. He checked outside outlets, & they weren't working either. He said the pressure-washed guy must have blown water into the outlets. He checked the main outlet in our garage and reset all & I paid $130 service fee.The lamppost came on, but only for a month or two. It stopped working again recently & he returned. He checked the same outlets & reset the outlet in the garage, saying the recent rain shorted the outl... read more

Contractor never responded. Replacement of a porch light

Business response:

Perhaps you have us confused with another firm. Angie's List has a log of all subscriber contacts and your name is not in their log. We keep a log of all incoming customer emails and phone calls (outside of AL) and again your name is not in the log. Happy to help if you contact us at 301-948-5252 or Service@CertifiedElec.com

Horrible experience!!! I called and spoke to Bill who is a complete idiot. He was rude throughout the call and just wanted to argue and insult me. I was just asking him about a simple outlet installation and when I asked about the warranty on the parts he was evasive and said they have a 15 minute warranty on parts. It is hard to believe certified Electrical Technologies has such a fool to answer their phones and speak to customers. Don't even bother calling this company. Electrical outlet installation

Business response:

We do not have anyone named Bill on staff (and never have) so this kind person clearly has us mixed up with another firm. After that rant we are glad he didn't call us. As long as we are on the subject, at CET we have a LIFETIME warranty on labor and extend the manufacturers warranty on parts
