I contacted the provider to install an electrical outlet and wire an overhead lighting fixture. The provider never showed up for the appointment and the work was never performed. They have an automated system for scheduling and confirming appointments, which requires you to enter a credit card number. After contacting the company with my initial inquiry I was directed to the on-line system to enter my credit card information and confirm the appointment. I did so and received a confirmation e-mail with the date and time of my... read more

Nothing The coupon expired and they would not honor the face value. I left several messages over the couse of several months and never got a reply via phone or email.

Business response:

This subscriber contacted us on 6/23/14 to discuss installing a Ceiling Fan in a Bedroom. She never scheduled the project, and as such, was never charged for any service. We keep very detailed records on every customer (or potential customer) contact. For the record: Although AL coupons and promotions have expiration dates (as required by law) we have NEVER refused to honor a promotion and never will. We have been in business for over 35 years and will honor a promotion FOREVER.

Business response:

Interesting review. All "F"s but would hire again. Cannot confirm if this was a project we have done. We can confirm we have never been to this address nor performed work for someone with this name on the reported date, but we did perform an AL 10 Point Electrical Safety Check for someone with a similar name on 1/4/16. We follow-up with EVERY client and if any issues are reported, they are resolved immediately. Our log indicated no issue reported on the project with the similar name. Could be a positive review for us, but a ... read more

Irresponsible and angry agent on the phone Irresponsible and angry agent on the phone

Business response:

Although we have no record of your call (we keep a detailed log of each customer contact) we apologize for your experience if you feel it was us that you contacted. With over 2000 positive review on AL (DC & Baltimore areas) your experience is obviously not typical. We hope that you give us another chance to make a better impression.

Electrical check of house It went ok. Some rooms were locked so wasn't able to get the level of service I wanted but it was my own mistake.

Business response:

This was supposed to be an AL 10 Point Electrical Safety Inspection. Interesting that the subscriber gave themselves an "F" which we completely agree with. This was an illegal boarding house with over a dozen people renting rooms each of which had locks on the door. It was vermin-infested and as mentioned we could not perform the Inspection due to the horrific conditions and lack of access.

Wholes House Electrical & Safety Inspection Technician went around to all outlets using a standard Ground Fault Tester. That was it! That was the extent to test/inspection. I mentioned several fixtures/outlets (including porch/garage lantern and existing smoke detectors) not working properly, technician provided no insight/troubleshooting. It wouldn't have been much to use a circuit tracer, etc... and make note of observations in inspection report. I eventually corrected issues on my own- but, I was disappointed with scope/d... read more

Business response:

Unfortunately another example of a subscriber purchasing an AL promotion, not reading the description of the services provided and being disappointed that their expectations are not met. If you don't know what you are purchasing, you will almost certainly be disappointed with the purchase. The AL 10 Point Safety Inspection has been very popular with AL subscribers. We test and evaluate the electrical system in a home and provide a report that not only identifies potential safety issues, but also provides a homeowner with a b... read more

Technically did nothing but supposed to fix kitchen Light, Electrical panel and smoke detector. CET was assigned by American Home Shield for our service provider for above mentioned work. I am reviewing based on all the attribute that i have given the ratings. 1. Quality: For kitchen light that clearly need to be replaced, the technician did the temporary fix that fell down after 10 days. Thank God, nobody was in kitchen and everybody was safe. The guy came back again and blamed us that we did break the light intentionally. ... read more

Business response:

The subscriber is a customer of a home warranty firm. We provide service for the home warranty firm and everything that we do is under their very specific direction. Once our tech diagnoses an issue, he contacts the HW firm and is told whether the repair is covered by the HW firm or not. We understand that HW customers get frustrated when their HW firm denies coverage, but we have no recourse other than to follow their direction. In this case, each one of the items denied by the HW firm were resulting from either DIY project... read more

Electrical Safety Inspection I had to reschedule the first appointment I had set up because the technician arrived 2 1/2 hours late. I had my son home during the timeframe given but he had to go to work. The second appointment I took off work. He was supposed to arrive between 10am - 2pm. He didn't show until 4:30pm. I was going away for the weekend so I wasn't there. Luckily my son was able to be there. I wanted to get an estimate for a light switch replacement but the gentlemen kindly announced that he was not an electrici... read more

Business response:

We apologize for the poor scheduling. This was an error on our part for not informing the subscriber that we do not service her area (which is noted in our AL profile). Since she purchased the promotion we attempted to make it work and the scheduling did not work out. She did, however, receive the full benefit of the 10 point safety inspection including our pointing out 2 minor issues. We have apologized to the subscriber and suggested that she request a full refund from AL.

We were looking for a quote for: 1 foyer light replacement; 1 chandelier installation with minor relocation (1 foot to the right); 6 conversions to recessed lights, 6 new recessed lights. We asked for a quote. Twice. We were given some hems and haws and approximates. The first time, we just figured maybe we weren't clear. We called the second time to ask for an actual price quote that included the whole scope of our request. We got even clearer with what we wanted done. Still more hems and haws and maybes. Then they told us ... read more

Business response:

Our Service Coordinators (all of whom are electricians) ask a lot of questions when someone calls about their projects to ensure that we have the capability to perform the work, and if so, that our techs show up with the correct equipment and material to perform the work. Maybes are only given if the caller does not know the specifics of their project. For example: How high is the 2 story ceiling ? A 16' requires different equipment than a 22' ceiling. What are the dimensions of the floor area where we need to setup a ladder... read more
