Provide Safety Inspection I informed the technician that I had used a power washer and blown a break and some of the sockets outside and the bathrooms were not working, which is what I wanted resolved today. I was told by the technician that he can do the inspection since they don't take long, but couldn't do any work due to two other calls today. I initially wanted Saturday hours since Angie's List said they provided Saturday hours, I provided 3 dates and was only given a Friday and had to give up a day off from work. In th... read more

Business response:

We are sorry to hear that your were disappointed with the AL 10 Point Safety promotion that you purchased. We have found that good communication is an essential component to a successful service experience. Unfortunately if a client does not communicate their expectations or special requirements to us, it is unlikely that they will be met. During the scheduling process if we find that the subscriber has purchased the wrong promotion or has additional projects or requirements, we will address those issues to ensure that we me... read more

Whole House Electrical Safety Inspection This company refused to issue a certification of house has passed a "Whole House Electrical Safety Inspection" that is what they AD for.

Business response:

The subscriber is angry that we would not be a party to the fraud that he was attempting. We provided an onsite report of our findings and a follow-up email indicating the results of the survey. Under no circumstances will we falsify the findings of an inspection or jeopardize our professional licensing or reputation for any reason. The next review is a more honest and unbiased assessment of this AL promotion.

I used the Big Deal for Certified Electrical Technologies. Supposedly they were giving me an evaluation of my electrical in my house. It was terrible. I had a specific question about my fixture. The guy said there was no reason to look at it. He looked at the other stuff and said he can't evaluate anything that isn't in a three-pronged outlet. My whole house is old so it doesn't have three-pronged outlet so basically he wouldn't test anything. In the kitchen he said I need to have GFCI on all my things. At the end, he finall... read more

Business response:

We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the AL 10 Point Electrical Safety Inspection. Our tech (who is not the owner) pointed out the following issues: You Kitchen outlets are not GFI protected Your regular outlets are ungrounded (2 prong) and need to be replaced with grounded outlets (3 prong). Since replacement is the only solution, no further evaluation was needed. The fixture that you mentioned was working and disassembling it is outside the scope of the inspection. The tech offered to work on it at addition... read more

looked my electrical outlets and checked smoke alarms. not at all worth the money hard to schedule. they really did notheing. not worth the money. it would not be worth it a half the price.

Business response:

Please allow us to correct the inaccuracies in your review. On 5/11/15 your purchased an AL promotion called the 10 Point Electrical Safety Inspection. It cost $89. We performed the project 2 days later on 5/13/15. In the inspection our tech found: Your Kitchen receptacles were not GFI protected None of the Smoke Detectors in your home were working There were missing Panel Cover Blanks in the cover to your Circuit Breaker Panel On 5/15/15 we provided an email summary of these safety issues and you chose not to address any of... read more

I purchased a Big Deal for $449 for 4 New Recessed Lights with a Dimmer Switch Installed He came to give an estimate. I was quoted $1000.00 on top of the $449.00 that I had already paid. Before the appointment I e-mailed about an outside GFI I needed replaced. He told me it would cost more because the GFI was outside. I also inquired about replacing a kitchen light fixture. He said it would be the cost of a service call plus an hour of labor which was about $200.00. My appointment was schedule from 11-2, but he called me at ... read more

Business response:

Complete nonsense. The subscriber purchased an AL promotion that had a fixed price. There was no discussion of extra charges nor could there be on a fixed price promotion. The terms of the promotion clearly state that there will be minor drywall damage and the repair of the holes is not included in the promotion. Before we start any project our techs go over the full scope of the project with the customer. When the tech showed the subscriber where the holes would be cut that needed repair, the subscriber insisted that she di... read more

Fixing electrical shorts in the house The electrician came out and looked at the issue. He did not do any work just left. He told us there are some short circuits and that we'd need a professional electrician to fix the issue (???!). This is a service request from American Home Shield, so the service charge is not that much, but they should still get things fixed since that's why we bought home warranty. NOT happy with the service! Have not heard back from them after the service either, if they can't even fix short circuits,... read more

Business response:

Although we perform work for the Home Warranty firm AHS we have never done work for this subscriber or at this address. Our records go back to 2010. We will contact AL and let them know this is an erroneous review.

Never return e-mails change my mind!

Business response:

This is a fairly common situation and give us an opportunity to address the issue. We receive a lot of messages from AL subscribers thru the AL portal. When a message is sent, it triggers an email to the recipient of the message. We like email (or the portal) since it provides a written record of the communication between our staff and the subscriber. It also eliminates "telephone tag" since it can be difficult to connect with people who have busy schedules. The problem surfaces when a subscriber contacts us via the portal (... read more

We need several outlets changed as well as a light repaired. We received a phone call on 12/3 in response to my message sent through their online contact form. The technician I spoke with, Steve Elkins, asked that I email him photos of the outlets and the light to be fixed. I sent the email with pictures the morning of 12/4. I received no response, so on 12/11 I sent a follow up email. Still no response. We were ready to have this work done immediately, but it looks like CET is not interested in our business.

Business response:

We track every email and phone call and have not received your emails. Emails are monitored 18 hours per day. Please forward to Service@CertifiedElec.com. Thanks

Return contact after 36 hours -- unacceptable! Unacceptable. After wasting 36 hours of my time waiting for a response to a simple electrical project, I get a call and the person from CET explains that they only have one person electricians that go to perform work at sites. In my house, 75% or more of the electrical work would take a team of at leat two electricians to complete the work properly. CET's decision only to have one person Electrician's work on project is a cost cutting measure that they made the decision is appro... read more

Business response:

Apparently **** hath no fury like a potential customer scorned. This is the 2nd poor review we have received recently because we declined to perform a project. After 30+ years in business we are careful to listen to customers to determine the scope of work and their expectations of the project. If our Service Managers (all of whom are experienced electricians) determine that we do not have the equipment or capability for a particular project, we let the customer know that we are not a good match for that particular project. ... read more
