The work performed by Certified Electrical was superb, but the logistics of scheduling and obtaining the correct parts were frustrating. When we first reached out for a quote, we had an extensive email exchange with Certified Electrical to make sure we had the correct parts for the electrician to replace the trim on our recess lights. We sent Certified Electrical pictures of the lights we wanted replaced and our contact at Certified Electrical even sent us a hyperlink to the exact trim that we needed to buy. However, when th... read more

Thank you for taking time to share your review. We are pleased to hear that you are satisfied with the outcome of the project. Prior to the project we tend to ask a lot of questions and answer all questions from our clients to ensure that we meet expectations and to ensure that when our tech shows up he is prepared as possible. Unfortunately until we actually arrive onsite sometimes not all info is known. Lighting parts are not generic and the recessed trims for one manufacturer generally do not fit on the housings for anoth... read more
I called and asked several questions regarding an estimate to repair some circuitry and install ceiling fans in several rooms in my home. 1: The guy who answered was incredibly condescending, 2: he told me that I was stupid and that it was a stupid call, 3: he trashed several other competitors in the area during the call. Called for estimate.
Business response:
We get dozens of calls every day. Sometimes we get trolled. One completely ridiculous question after another culminating in a poor online review. Example: Q - Do you do install ceiling fans properly ? A - No we use a combination of scotch tape and bubble gum. Q - Do you run wires to the ceiling fan or just install it on the ceiling ? A - Oh, you want it to work too ? Clearly just trolling.
I received a phone estimate from them upon speaking to them, but it was fuzzy to me. I called back and requested them to come visit so I could get a written estimate. I agreed and payed $165.00 for the estimate and setup a visit for the next week. The visit went fine but I have not recieved a written estimate going on 15 business days later. I do not understand how this team could provide a phone guestimation in 10 seconds, but when you request a slightly more accurate quote they take 15+ business days. In my opinion, they s... read more

Seems to be a communication breakdown of some type. Our appointment was 10/22/18 and our tech provided an onsite estimate (written on invoice) and an emailed version was sent a few days later. We followed-up with an email 2 weeks later and have never heard back from the subscriber. We are very low-key and would never pressure anyone. If clients do not respond we assume that they changed their mind or made other plans. The amount charged was $130 (not $165) and since it was an estimate the entire amount is applied to the job.... read more
It was a horrible experience. It took me 2 weeks to get them to my house due to their schedule. When the day finally arrived, the technician arrived late, which made me an hour late to work. He blamed traffic. He was very nice, but only completed about 2/3 of the job in 1 day. They had told me it should just be a 1-day job... they were wrong... by 50%! I rescheduled them to complete the rest of the job, but of course it was another 1 week + of wait time. But I just canceled the follow-up appointment because over the weekend,... read more

After 35+ years in business we have to learn to trust our instincts. After over a dozen emails answering every question that the subscriber had the subscriber scheduled the job and then immediately started trying to negotiate a lower price. The job was quoted on a time and material basis and the subscriber was given an estimated cost. The subscriber then insisted that he provide all materials (fine) but that we give him a detailed material list of everything that we had planned to use and stand behind the products he was sup... read more
What's the difference between a Hunter Fan and a chandelier? If you don't know then CET might be a good match. When I looked up Ceiling Fan Installation and saw the Deal for 10% off from Certified Electrical Technologies for a fan installation, I thought I would give them a try. When I called, I told them that I had a Hunter fan that needed to be re-installed and that it was a Hotel Original that had an oil bath lubrication system. When they said that they weren't familiar with oil bath fans, I should have said thank you and... read more

As we informed the subscriber before, at the time of service, and after the service, we are an electrical contracting firm that is highly experienced in the installation of ceiling fans. We are not, however, a factory-authorized ceiling fan repair firm. We also made it clear that anyone other than a factory-authorized tech who repairs a Hunter fan would void the fan's warranty. After informing the subscriber that we could not repair or lubricate his fans, he asked us to replace a fan and swap the wall speed control (that he ... read more
I took off of work for a scheduled appointment time between 10AM-2PM. 2PM came and went, yet I never received a phone call that a technician was on his/her way or was going to be late. I canceled this appointment due to this lack of communication and professionalism. If you value your hard-earned vacation time, don't bother taking off of work and hiring Certified Electrical Technologies. They won't honor their appointment times and/or communicate with you when when they can't make it on time. I needed a wire fished from the ... read more

The subscriber is correct. We failed to keep the appointment in the allotted time or inform him. Our techs are supposed to let customers know if they are running behind and this did not take place. When the subscriber called at 2PM he was informed that the tech was already on his way and would be there in 10 minutes, but he chose to cancel the appointment which was his prerogative. We apologized and asked if he would like to reschedule and he declined. Our customer service manager contacted him the following day to offer a t... read more
I hate to write this negative review because the technician was very friendly, but i feel like I was robbed. I called CET to investigate an electrical noise and to fix whatever was causing it. The technician was scheduled to arrive between 12 noon and 4 pm. The technician called me at 4:10 notifying me that he would arrive in 15 minutes. He arrived at 4:30, 30 minutes later than the four hour window provided by the receptionist. The technician arrived and investigated the electrical sound, but was not able to fix the issue o... read more

The night prior to this appointment, we had an ice storm in the area. Schools and most businesses were delayed several hours due the icy conditions. The subscriber was informed that morning that although we intended to keep his (and all other appointments) we would be running late. He acknowledged this and expressed his wish to keep the appointment. Secondly, our tech identified that the noise is coming from a motor associated with the Master Bathroom. It is probably an exhaust fan in the attic. Our tech searched for an hour... read more
This is a horrible company - I really do not believe the reviews here - there is NO WAY this company received this many positive reviews. The company offered me an appointment between 10 am - 2 pm - I told the man who booked the appointment I would have to take an entire day of vacation and I did. He said they would call one hour before arrival. He also said he needed my credit card to book the appointment. in retrospect, I guess the company believes that their customers are as unreliable and as untrustworthy as they are - b... read more

Sorry, but over 2800 past clients (DC & Balto area) who have left us positive reviews would disagree with your assessment. This is not to say that we don't make mistakes, which do occur occasionally. When they do occur, we do everything that we can to rectify them ASAP. We did, in fact, let the subscriber know that our tech was running late and gave her the option of keeping the appointment or rescheduling for another day. We apologized for the inconvenience, which we understand, and the subscriber chose to keep the appointm... read more
It didn't as after leaving multiple messages voice and text was finally told the work would not be done. I understand declining work, it's the ignoring calls and messages part that will have me not using this company again. Shame in that the work they had done for me in the past was of good quality. Left High and Dry - I asked CET if they were interested in doing some wiring for my new kitchen, first said "no" then said "yes" evidence in the written notes attached to this review. As you can see they charged me for the time t... read more

When the subscriber called (who we have worked for in the past) we let her know that we did not currently have time to perform the work on her kitchen renovation. She had a small repair and she scheduled time for us to perform the repair (which we charged for). Upon completion of the repair, the contractor that was performing the renovation work asked our tech several questions about the renovation. Our tech spent time answering all of the questions and took notes of what was discussed but at no time indicated that we would ... read more
