Horrible experience. First, after receiving no less than 5 reminders for my appointment (email, text, call) they keep me waiting over 40 minutes. Second and most disturbing was the doctor who either didn't care or is incompetent. Didn't properly diagnose me. Fortunately I went to another ophthalmologist for a second opinion and was properly diagnosed. And now in treatment. Never going back. Place does more harm than good. Anthony is my middle name. Will be happy to speak to Philip.
Business response:
Dear Anthony, We tried looking for your chart but cannot find you as a patient here at our practice. As the principal of the practice, I would like to rectify any misunderstanding. Would you kindly give us a call and ask for Phillip or private message us with your phone number so we can call you back? Thank you in advance and looking forward to your reply.

I've never been to a Dr.'s Office that required me to pay $75 for an Rx. We already paid for the exam and used insurance but they withheld the Rx until it was paid. Horrible! Avoid! I'd go to Visionary Optics down the street if you live in Chelsea. Adding to this review to say - no one ever picks up the phone; which makes it a lot hard to resolve billing issues and/or order contact lenses; Lots of back-and-forth and voicemails and being put on hold. Again - I don't know how they are getting away with this - avoid, avoid, avo... read more

Please note that Chelsea Eye Ophthalmology PLLC is primarily a medical/surgical ophthalmologic eye care practice. Our focus is total eye care and our emphasis is on the anterior segment. This includes cataracts and advanced technology lens implants, refractive procedures such as LASIK, PRK, Visian and lens exchanges. We care for eyeglass and contact lens related issues. As a medical practice, we do not participate in vision plans but rather, medical insurance plans including most major carriers. These carriers include Blue C... read more
This was a frustrating, disappointing, first (and last) visit. My optometrist referred me to Dr. Coad because I have some kind of issue with my eye lid. I waited 2 1/2 weeks for an appointment, which was today at 1:30. Beforehand they had me do all the forms re. medical history, contact info, etc. Great, I thought, very efficient. I got there, checked in, and someone did some vision tests on me even though I was clear that I was there for an eyelid issue. OK, he was nice enough. When he was done he told me "now we have to wa... read more
** AN AWFUL EXPERIENCE ** My usual eye doctor is in Long Island, so I thought I'd try some place close by in the city. My appointment was at the end of June. A total mistake. What a nightmare! Despite the space being very pretty, just about everyone in this office is rude, rude, rude and acts like they are annoyed to be there and annoyed to be dealing with you, annoyed that you're even standing there. One receptionist was mildly cordial, the other seemed completely peeved when I asked her to write their fax number for me aft... read more

Dear Lisa, Thank you for taking the time out to give us your feedback. Your experience appears atypical. Our staff is caring and helpful. We wish you the best and are happy that we were able to resolve your issues. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
Stay away! I hoped I found a great eye doctor, but in fact they are just scammers. First clues to poor service, their computer to check in is placed next to a window with so much glare you cannot see the screen, and they are ophthalmologists? Second clue, when I walked into the restroom it looked like a 14 year old boy had just finished using it, it was dirty. Third clue, when I finally finished the exam the person in a white coat said the doctor wasn't on location, they'd send my results to me after he reviewed. She was the... read more

If I could choose "0", I would do that. Surprise bills. Twice. Update re reply under this review: Surprise bill 1: I received bill 15 months after my visit, even though I have emails requesting the clinic to send me a bill if I owed anything. Surprise bill 2: Representative of the clinic assured me that ROUTINE eye exam was covered by my insurance. It turned out that routine eye exam was not covered, even after deductible is met.
Business response:
We are sorry to hear you feel this way Irina.. The statement you received represented the in-network deductible amount due per your insurance company for your medical exam. Unfortunately, insurance plans and benefits can be very confusing. Your insurance company should have provided you a statement or an Explanation of Benefits through the mail. In case they have not, we also provided you with the Explanation of Benefits and an itemized breakdown of your visit validating the balance. Please feel free to reach back out to us ... read more
