It's with a heavy heart that I write this, because my family has had several cats treated at Civic Feline over the years and while they've always been expensive, we felt they were worth it. But my mom's experience there this week with Dr Smith was so traumatizing, I doubt we'll be back. As a pet lover, I think one of the best gifts we can give our critters, is a painless and comforting end when they are suffering. I've recently had to help both my kitty and doggy cross the rainbow bridge and both experiences were something... read more
Business response:
We were sad as well upon reading your review. We assure you that these are not the impressions with which we wanted to leave you or your mother. In an effort to honor our mission statement of helping cats live longer, happier, healthier lives from nose to tail and womb to tomb, we share the utmost respect for our feline companions, particularly during all-important end-of-life decisions. Escorting a friend to the rainbow bridge is the last service we can perform for our patients and we honor this serious responsibility. ... read more
Do NOT board your cat here. We left ours there for 3 weeks while we were in Australia. They promised to let her out of her cage for attention but she was distressed when we picked her up. AND SHE HAD DIARRHEA WHICH NOBODY BOTHERED TO CLEAN OFF OF HER SO I BATHED HER AS SOON AS I GOT HER HOME. Was told that she was recently put on meds because the vet noticed that her one eye was a different shade of green to the other. THE CAT HAS ALWAYS HAD THAT!!! AND SHE DID NOT EAT FOR A WHOLE WEEK when we took her home. It took our cat... read more
Having worked in a Veterinary surgery center and animal hospital I May be a little biased with my review but there must be better cat care in Walnut Creek. Waffles went in with an infected abscess on her tail and came out with an infected abscess and blood on her scruff/ skin which I thought might be injection sites but Dr. Sherriff explained they're not... then what are they and why are they bleeding?!?. We paid for: -antibiotics, which I don't think she even received -hair cut /shave to prevent further infection (before ... read more
My cat, Cammy, is almost 17 years old and I have taken her to Civic Feline Clinic her entire life. Currently, I am with Cammy in West Virginia, and a vet here believes she has Lymphoma. Because I now have to make the incredibly difficult decision to euthanize Cammy based on the vets conclusions, despite the fact that Cammy is not displaying all the typical symptoms of Lymphoma, I called Civic Feline Clinic to ask to speak to one of the vets and get their opinion. Because it had been slightly over a year since I had Cammy in ... read more
I think they know cats but after $800 without even a suggestion of what was wrong with my cat, I was frustrated. The next vet told me the over licking was something they had seen before. Yes it was mysterious but they did not recommend lab work or ultrasound at great cost to tell me that. I like the straight forward less expensive road.
I have been going to CFC for five years and was always very happy with the vets and staff. I saw Dr Georgia Blaine who was very caring and thorough. Since she has left I've noticed the staff are not as friendly and the vets not as attentive. I saw Dr Lally because my cat had tapeworm and also loud breathing. The tapeworm was easily fixable but Dr Lally wanted to proceed with X-rays of my cats' lungs and have a specialist review them for the loud breathing. $350 later I got the results and all they said was there was irritati... read more
We originally brought in our belated cat to the owner of the Feline Clinic and she was wonderful, so we decided to have the clinic deal with our new kitten. We brought him in for conjunctivitis (eye infection) and during our first visit, he was given a topical antibiotic, erythromycin. The eye didn't get any better so we came in again to have his cornea looked at and they said it looks ok. Another few days goes by but the eye isn't any better so we go in again and they give us two oral anti-biotics. We're in the third week... read more
If I had been writing this review a couple years back, it would have been a 5, because up until that time we couldn't have been more satisfied with Civic Feline. For about 10 years Georgia Blaine was our vet, and she was wonderful, but unfortunately she is no longer working there. The vets we saw after Dr. Blaine left were clearly competent, but they didn't seem to have the same level of caring; in fact, it almost seemed as if the general tone of the office, including all of the staff, had become less friendly and welcoming ... read more
Unhappy with customer service and lack of veterinary care. Brought cat in for urinary tract infection, asked vet about tests/procedures to be completed and costs....response was that everything will be applied to regular visit charge and that no extra charges will apply. I ended up with a $254 vet bill, which consisted of an antibiotic shot and some urine tests....will NOT be going back! Not even sure if my cat was given the antibiotic since symptoms haven't improved. They also were rude and unfriendly. They also told us... read more
