Took my two cats here recently after moving here. The staff was professional, attentive and really courteous. And they have boarding, which is nice! Especially since you are boarding with a vet, so you know if your cat gets sick while you are away there are vets to take care of them. Would absolutely recco this vet to others for their cats!

Had a really horrible experience with this "cat clinic". They don't seem to have good bedside manner or really care about the cats' wellbeing at all. The vet called my cats weight "horrendous" and recommended he be drugged to come in for visits. He's never hissed, bitten, or scratched any of them. The vet even while trying to call me a bad cat mom for not wanting to drug my cat, cut off in a sentence to say "oh he's flirting with me now" as he twirled around her legs purring... yet continued to recommend he be drugged. No ... read more

Business response:

Jazzy, while we appreciate feedback and always look for opportunities to improve client experience, the text you sent us contained abusive and hurtful language, which his not tolerated here at Civic Feline Clinic. We are a Cat Friendly Certified practice, which means we prioritize the management of feline anxiety. This is why the doctor recommended a drug called Gabapentin, as your kitty’s anxiety was progressively escalating during the exam, limiting our ability to continue recommended treatments safely. We also take carrie... read more

I've been coming here with my cats for years. I don't understand why they have this one very rude front desk person. There are other reviews about her too and the clinic always responds to these reviews defending her, which makes me reconsider going there. I like the doctors and that it's a clinic only for cats but the rude girl with green hair is cold and lacks any empathy. Her customer service skills are horrible. If she wasn't there the vibe there would be 100% better. Too bad management can't see this. I figure she mus... read more

Elizabeth C. I experienced what you experienced. They don't have good bedside manner and professionalism. So I stop coming there starting today. My cat deserves better. The staff are not good and educated. I'm so disappointed. No more paw plans that I payed for them. I'll definitely go somewhere else., This place is NOT RECOMMEND. That's my opinion!

Business response:

Marianne, We are a Cat Friendly Practice, which means we prioritize feline emotion and anxiety when completing various treatments/services. When cats tell us "no", we stop and reevaluate. While we understand how frustrating it can be when services cannot be completed due to feline stress, we also do not tolerate rude or discriminatory behavior towards our staff. We wish you luck in finding a veterinarian that can better serve your needs.

This place is not for me. From the moment I walked in, the experience felt dismissive and impersonal. The woman at the front desk (green hair) spoke with a condescending tone and didn't take the time to explain anything clearly--just quickly handed me paperwork with a brief spiel about their "Paw Plan." Before the appointment, I received three separate text messages warning that if I canceled, I'd have to prepay next time--even though I had no intention of canceling. It felt unnecessary and pushy. We were seen about 30 min... read more

We have been a client for almost 30 years with 5 cats. I used to LOVE this Vet but it's not the same. My cat started limping and I called the next morning asking to be seen. The receptionist said the practice was full for the next several weeks and to go to urgent care. No compassion. No suggestion to be put onto a wait list. No suggestion to call back to see if there was a cancellation. This NEVER happened before. Animals get sick. Vets are not only for check ups. So I hung up and called Orinda Vet where I had taken my cats... read more

Business response:

Barbara, we apologize that we could not fit your kitty in for a same day visit. We are a general practice (non-emergency) with limited space and time in our schedule for "fit-in" appointments or drop-offs. We also fill our same day appointments on a first-come, first-served basis. Given your kitty was limping, we could also not safely recommend that you wait to be seen by putting you on our appointment waitlist. A new limp needs attention as soon as possible, which is why we made the recommendation for you to be seen by an u... read more

The front office staff is awful. They're rude, condescending and awful. They checked me in for the wrong cat, and then another time didn't book the appointment correctly and told me I could pay more for an emergency appointment even though the error was not my fault. This place has gone downhill - I had been coming here for years but ever since they changed front office staff and the original owner left it's just been terrible.

Business response:

We're sorry to hear about this experience. Please feel free to reach out to us at (925) 930-9226 if you'd like to discuss further.

we have a special situation. we have managed to tame a feral kitty with a litter of kittens. now that the kittens are old enough to be adopted out, we wanted to have the momma kitty spayed. Civic Feline Clinic is not willing to treat Momma kitty with special actions. I requested that they allow us to be present and hold her while they sedate her for her spay surgery because she is SUPER timid and scared of humans. They were not willing to make special accommodations for our special situation. I am disappointed in Civic Feli... read more

Business response:

Brigid, we appreciate your feedback and understand how frustrating it can be to be separated from your kitty at the vet. We also know there may be other "open-plan" clinics out there that do allow owners to hold their pets for various sedated procedures, but our hospital is not setup like this. All of our surgical drop-offs are taken in at the beginning of the day and triaged with other procedures that may be going on in the hospital. It's hard to say exactly when we would be getting to your kitty, but our highly trained and... read more

MANAGEMENT THERE IS NOT WORTH YOUR TIME AND MONEY, DESPITE HOW GREAT THE DOCTORS ARE: Update on my unfortunate experience with the Civic Felinie vet clinic: So on April 11, 2024, at 8:35 AM, I dropped off my cat for spaying, INFORMED the staff that I could NOT pick her up between 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM. None the less, At 12:40 PM, I was told to pick her up between 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM I called the clinic at 4:45 PM and explained my situation. The receptionist was very rude and misleading. She cut me off multiple times and just ... read more

We understand that everyone has a busy schedule, but also expect our clients to respect our business hours and plan pickups accordingly. When you called at approximately 4:50pm, our front desk tried to work with your arrival time, but you indicated that you couldn't be here until 6pm. One of our doctors offered to stay until 6pm to meet you and provide discharge instructions. You then called back just before we closed at 5:30pm and said that you couldn't arrive until 6:20pm. Our doctor was unable to stay that late. We told y... read more
