We recently moved to the area and came here with our two dogs. The people seemed friendly (at first), but that was the only redeeming quality about this vet. Everything else is horrible from the way they peddle expensive monthly health subscriptions (not pet insurance ) to their truly atrocious record keeping. I did try to like this vet and I gave them so many chances, but it's honestly impossible to bring your pets here if you value their health, safety, and don't want to be ripped off. I probably should have just left w... read more

Hello Heather, as with most reviews that contain inaccuracies we like to respond and clarify for Yelp reviewers. As this review is lengthy we will simply address the concerns that were most easily decipherable. The expensive monthly plans that you mentioned are presented at examinations as an option to avoid large lump sum payments. These are in fact services at reduced costs, and less expensive than the traditional payment methods. Our data supports the savings our clients benefit from while on Wellness Plans. The bloodwork... read more
I feel the vets are good but they are kinda milking the whole covid thing with the locked doors and closed waiting room. Kinda cold and impersonal. Hell, Kaiser doesn't even do that.
Business response:
Hello Dan, we are thrilled that you like our DVM's! Regarding the hybrid curbside service, frankly, we couldn't agree more. We would love to go back to normal operations. Our cautious approach at present is based on a closure earlier this year attributed to an outside visitor who was positive, which in turn resulted in three staff members becoming positive. We had to close down for a week which resulted in about 140 pets that needed to be seen but were unable to as a result. As things trend for the better we will be revisiti... read more
The office staff gave my dog expired medication (the office manager claims it was a typo) I asked them to exchange it for current medication and they refused. When I got upset and asked them to have Dr. Grey call me he refused to leave him a message. So I said I will just wait outside to talk to him when he leaves the office he took it as a threat and refused my business going forward. Love the Dr's, but the office staff is very bad.
Business response:
Hello Annemarie. As is our normal practice, when an inaccurate review is posted publically we would like to clear up discrepancies. In this case the medication was not expired. This was verified with the pharmacy, through the purchase, receiving, placement, and processing the prescription itself. A picture of the label on the bottle used was also sent to you, at your request, to confirm it was not expired. The label you received was indeed simply a clerical error, which we remedied. Replacement of the medication would have b... read more
Two weeks ago we brought a stray cat here. They claimed that cat is healthy, and we need simply come back in two week with him. Which is today. Yesterday cats tip of the tail fell off. We came here cause we have an appointment. They refused so see us, since they were waiting for us only to get vaccinated and it's no vet to be seen until 5pm! We rushed in other clinic. Results: cats tail needs to be amputated because in this clinic no one noticed a broken tail two weeks ago when we found this poor thing on streets. Now its g... read more
My girl went in for vaccines on Friday, I was expecting a follow up call to check on her after her vaccines that Monday since I'd left a voicemail saying she may be having a reaction she's vomiting. They never got back to me, I had to call in to update them again to let them know she ended up breaking out in hives everywhere after vomiting. The receptionist told me once I'd called in " I don't get in early enough to check voicemails, yeah she was throwing up." And no follow up call or is she better now? .... After spending w... read more

Hello Rosa, we have reached out to you via email regarding your voicemail and have not received a response. We will kindly respond here for the sake of client awareness. Your appointment was our last one on Friday. We are closed on the weekends. This is why you did not receive a call back sooner. Regarding your live phone call on Monday morning: in both your voicemail and this conversation you stated that you wanted the signs of the allergic reaction noted in the record for future visits. We did this per your request, as ind... read more
Can't get your pet in when they are Sick. Unacceptable Just tell you to call emergency vet. No way
Business response:
Hello Mrs. Vassar, to follow up with your response I see that you have not been to our clinic in two years. Based on the timeframe between your last visit and this post I hope it is fair to assume you have found a new veterinarian. As such, I will limit any resolution to simply providing any necessary records you may have need of. For those clients that still wish to continue care with us please note we have adjusted various scheduling practices in the past 1-2 years to include 2-4 same day appointments. These are best serve... read more
I have been bringing Mamas here for a couple of years. When she saw Dr. Melissa Jacobs she was in great hands. The last few visits here were not the quality of care you'd expect for a loyal customer. Mamas was having issues with sneezing, reverse sneezing and coughing, her eyes were rolling in the back of her head and she was having issues with walking on 10/31/21 and Discovery Bay Vet was closed so I brought her to the Emergency Vet recommended by them in Antioch. They did a check-up and bloodwork and stated she had an in... read more
Very expensive and do not follow up with Lab results. Find another Vet. Anything other than annual checkups, vaccinations look for a Veterinary that offers full medical services. Just to take a look at a Cat and draw blood to send out to a Lab $405.45 They are closed on Saturday and Sunday so if you are expecting follow up from a Thursday visit forget it. Have been using this Vet for over four years, A previous call for a standard checkup for the dog I was told they are very busy you should look for another Veterinary, How's... read more

Thank you for sharing your generous feedback! We appreciate your kind words and support!
I have been bringing my 4 animals here for the past 4 years and within the last year have had multiple urgent situations where they were simple too busy to see us so we ended up at the VCA. This last time my dog had an emergency in the middle of the night I rushed him straight to VCA. Being under the care of VCA for 36hrs with little improvement I called to speak with his primary vet for a second opinion and I was met with this exact response "yaaaaaa Dr.Gray is too busy he won't be able to call you back" not even an option... read more
