The usb jet is easy to break itself. I returned twice and it still has the problem.
Wasted 3 hours trying to get it to work. Called help line - Sad, Gave up and returned it to store.
This scanner is just not worth the price. The only plus side to having it is because it is so small & could fit in my bag. I could not get it to work wirelessly we'll pass the return date. I took it to an IT guy & he couldn't figure it out.
It only scans when connected to the PC by the USB wire. Impossible to figure out how to set up its wireless scanning as it requires some weird wireless connection, meaning you have to disconnect from your own wireless network and connect to this scanner's own network. After 10 days trying to figure out how to make it scan wireless, I have to give up! Too complex to connect it wireless! Horrible software and difficult to use. Better off getting a cheap printer with a scanner.
Brother says it will be late November before they can come out with drivers for OS10.12, Apple's newest system. Unwilling to wait that long. This upgrade has been talked about for months, so its not like Brother didnt know it was coming. Very disappointed.
Product states it works with Mac. That's half true. If you have updated to OS X 10.8 or higher you have to use the Brother TWAIN scanner software which isn't even retina capable so it doesn't look that great. I;d rather use the integrated Image Capture and reduce 3rd party glut on my PC. What I did scan looked OK and overall the device felt sturdy. Like other have said WiFi is hit or miss.
The WiFi connection on this Brother portable scanner is completely useless. You have to disconnect from your internet connected WiFi and directly connect to the Brother scanner, so you cannot save directly to your already in use cloud based storage. Basically you cannot connect the Brother scanner to your WiFi router or your WiFi access point.
Looks like windows compatibility issue and is frustrating that no support is available
