Plus side: Convenient hours and compassionate staff. Minus side: Policy of forcing you to buy all pet medications directly from them. They refuse to give you a written prescription so you can have it filled where it is cheapest and most convenient for you. California law requires a prescribing veterinarian to offer to give a written prescription to a client that the client may elect to have filled by a pharmacy of his/her choice. East Lake charges $56 for 60 tabs of Proin 50 mg, which I can buy at a quality online pharmacy f... read more

Horrible service, took our lovely 1 year old purebred Maltese back in march 2013 due to the fact that he was refusing to eat. After blood work and x-rays were done, Dr Frankovich found two nail screws by his ribs. She said he needed an emergency surgery to remove the nail screws. She gave us a 75 % chance of him surviving the surgery. He made it through surgery, spoke to the vet the next day and the vet informed us that everything turned out as planned and that our lovely maltes was out of danger. He was there for 3 days, t... read more

No need to call Dr. Carroll as I will never take any pet I have there again. As for my slanderous comments, please view his other reviews on his quality of care.

Business response:

This reviewer never call my office about claims of overmedicating their pet or requested any records be sent so as to get a real second opinion. MS's slanderous comments hold little value, are mostly just insulting and contain little I can respond to positively As some background, I started working in veterinary field at the age of eleven. I graduated from UCD with honors, was fourth in my veterinary class at Davis, and went on to one of the most prestigious internships at West Los Angeles Veterinary Hospital. I did exten... read more

If money and agreements on level of care are important to you bring a recording device or something.

I got my dogs shots and microchiping here because they provide those services really cheap. However, I took him in for their bed and biscuit service and it was horrible. I dropped him off with an over night bag with tons of treats and toys, one of my shirts with my smell on it to comfort him, and one of his sweaters.... he's a pit bull, they're short hair, they get cold. When I picked him up, none of his toys had been played with. They were all still new.... did I mention he's an 80lb pit bull? They should've been destroyed... read more

Called friday to make an appointment for my cat on Sunday at 2:30 I get there right on time on Sunday only to be told my appointment wasn't till the 20 something of this month! I was a little pissed but since I had already wasted my time going there I figured Id stay. I told the girl at the desk that when I called on friday I specifically wanted a ASAP appointment since my cat didn't look like she was doing so good so makes no sense to why I would take a appointment till the 20 something she said "there's another appointmen... read more

This review is about 4 years past due- should have done it long ago!! Horrible Vet. Rude and uncompassionate. Cares more about money and holding a grudge then actually caring for animals. I saw this man physically grab a woman's arm to turn her away from the clinic years ago. After that, I didn't feel safe with him so left to another practice. Then since Dr Moreno sold her practice a few years ago, I Have used Dr Mayer since and couldn't be happier.

I had a horrible experience yesterday. I took my cat with a hurt toe pad to East lake Animal Clinic. He has only once had to ride in a car for a length of time and does not do well with it. When I arrived at the vet, I told the receptionist he was very traumatized, and had messed himself and was thrashing around hysterically, breathing extremely hard. She did not even look at him, told me I was early and to take a seat. 20 minutes later, he had stopped breathing all together. I said "I think my cat is dead!" and they rushed ... read more

Not only were the 2 front office receptionist crass and rude but completely unhelpful. We brought in a small dog hit by a car then drove away, this was not our dog and were not from the area so we drove to the first vet near by and sadly it was here. We were told unless we had cash they would not even look at the animal and offered no information when asked where to take the animal. Not even the courtesy of looking and seeing if the animal was in dire pain. I am sickened by this unprofessional vet and their staff. I would no... read more
