I would never bring my loved ones here. I almost made the mistake of getting surgery for my cat here, after the preliminary exam I found this place to be grim, staff is unprofessional, and rude. That along with all the horrible reviews I decided to go elsewhere. IV had my cat for 14 years, and she means the world to me, so if your loved one means the world to you, please don't bring them to this death camp.

So my brother's dog had his little front leg stuck on a hole on a gate. We heard a loud cry and my husband rush to help him, the space where his little front leg was stuck was very small and hard to get to, but when my husband managed to get his front leg out, he realized something was not good. His little paw was dangling like if broken. It was really late at night and the only vet open during this times to our knowledge was this one, so we rushed him in to get checked. We get there and ofcourse right away they asked... read more

It amazes me how local businesses complain that they cannot compete in today's economy, yet they do not care to evolve their business practices and improve the value they give to their customers/pets. This place lost potential revenue and my business forever before I even walked in the door. The very nice lady on the phone just explained with a smile "we charge $22 for a first time visit unless you need more care and are willing to schedule follow up visits and buy medication....then that same visit is $65 plus any additiona... read more

DON'T EVER TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I could give negative stars because they would get negative 100!!!!!!!!!!!! My grandmother took our cat there because they were the only emergency place open. When they got there the girl at the front desk was RUDE and very UNSYMPATHETIC (NOTE: if you don't love animals DON'T work at a vets office!!!!!!!) They were all about the money!!! They did not care that my cat was suffering and dying while they were sitting around chit chatting and being worried ab... read more

I believe that some employees here care for animals passionately and others do not. I do believe all the other reviews that mention their focus is largely on money and how much money they can make on how many tests you're willing to accept. Yes, they will threaten to call SPCA and police if you deny services because you can't afford it. I really feel so bad for the families we observed who were forced into accepting treatments they didn't necessarily want. The original estimate of $900+ was reduced to $400 to help our fa... read more

Please price check before using this place. They charged $60 for medicine that I bought directly from the pharmacy for $21.50 . I just had a checkup and blood test done somewhere else and came home and pulled an old receipt from them and the cost was $50 more than new vet charged. Its great to have a 24 hour vet but you can get it cheaper elsewhere during regular hours. The SPCA does spay neuters for $150 in Monterey and East Lake charged over $300. They are as good as any vet but you do pay more.

DON'T GO HERE! If I could give zero stars, I would! It's been over a week and I'm still upset with how this place handles an emergency situation, and how much they dare to charge for their "help". I'm sorry I didn't take the advice from others about going here, please don't make the same mistake I did. Last week, I brought my cat in before their "normal" office hours were up for an emergency (7:20pm) - we rushed as quickly as possible, and as soon as we pulled in to the driveway she took her final breath. I rushed her in an... read more

Plus side: Convenient hours and compassionate staff. Minus side: Policy of forcing you to buy all pet medications directly from them. They refuse to give you a written prescription so you can have it filled where it is cheapest and most convenient for you. California law requires a prescribing veterinarian to offer to give a written prescription to a client that the client may elect to have filled by a pharmacy of his/her choice. East Lake charges $56 for 60 tabs of Proin 50 mg, which I can buy at a quality online pharmacy f... read more

No need to call Dr. Carroll as I will never take any pet I have there again. As for my slanderous comments, please view his other reviews on his quality of care.
