The service used to be very good, but has been declined in the last year. I have been unhappy with the quality of service. Integrity of the business has declined as integrity of the veterinarian and the assistants have been displeased. Caught red flags everytime I went there. For example, a month ago the medication was $20 cheaper with a huge jump in dollar figures without consistent fees. I looked at my old invoices to compare the dates when treated and prices being charged for treatments. None of invoices of same treatment... read more
took my cats in on a referral from a work friend, the staff actually is nice and professional, however our oldest cat needed surgery and though the surgery was a success, our cat now has an issue when she cries... her meows are very strained and horse sounding. when I called in a few days after the surgery to mention this to the staff, the receptionist refused putting me through to the doctor, and told me that it was "normal" after a procedure... I asked to have the doctor call me, but received no call....no call till sever... read more

Randolph, we take your feedback seriously and apologize you were not satisfied with your experience. It is always our number one priority to provide exceptional veterinary care and client service, so we are sad to hear you don't feel this to be the case. We reached out and left a message checking on Peaches after her surgery and also called to inform you of her histopath results. Our doctor did in fact address your kitty's hoarse meow at her suture removal and suggested you call if it persisted but unfortunately we never hea... read more
(Edited to address the misleading and inaccurate comments by EMAH in response to the review) I absolutely would not recommend East Maryland Animal Hospital. Our first vet seemed competent but the second one we saw, Dr. Clemons, is terrible at her job. Once she told us our puppy had to lose 4 to 5 pounds, even though she gave her about five treats while we were there (they never ask if they can, they just ask if the dog has allergies). Then after she lost one pound, a vet tech told us she had to lose 2 more while Dr. Clemon... read more

We appreciate your feedback and hear your concerns. We do utilize the asset of a board certified radiologist to review patients' X-rays, as they can sometimes help to investigate issues beyond the general practitioner's assessment which can be a useful benefit for the pet. That is the radiologist's expertise and sole job and we find it helpful to add their recommendations into our treatment plans. Our doctors recommend tests such as X-rays if a pet is brought in with concerns of discomfort, but believe in reviewing an estim... read more
I have gone for years but will never go again. The only good thing about this visit was the receptionist. The vet assistant was unfriendly, borderline rude. The vet was worthless. Seriously? You can't find my dogs pulse? You think my dog is too noisy to hear her heart? Then why did I PAY $60??? You can't do anything! You have to look everything up online? I can do that, and have, at home. Why should I pay you to research potential problems online? This was not the Vet I have seen in the past. I want a refund!! You did NOTHING... read more

Hi Will. We are so sorry for your recent experience with our hospital. We have reached out to address your concerns and left a message for you. Please give our office manager a call back at 602-279-7366 at your earliest convenience so we may rectify this situation and apologize offline.
Great care for our pup and super understanding when I'm a crazy dog mom. We switched from Banfield and haven't looked back. Update: While I appreciate your response Haley, we had an absolutely terrible experience yesterday. I won't change my rating, as Dr. Schroeder is really great. We will never agree to an appointment with Dr. Clemens again.
Business response:
Hi Brittnee, we appreciate your encouraging words and look forward to seeing you and your precious pup again soon!
Our cat got sick suddenly. His symptoms were not eating, not drinking, sensitivity to touch. We were able to get in immediately. The problem we have is their procedure. After we were shown to our examination room, we explained his symptoms to the nurse. The nurse took our cat from the examination room into the back room immediately. We were left there to wait. The doctor then came in and had examined our cat already in the back. To us, the examination of our cat should have been done in the examination room with us ... read more

Hi Steve. Please see the response to your review from the doctor. "I read your review and I am sorry I did not meet your expectations. I take this criticism very seriously. Whenever we get negative feedback we try to learn from the experience and improve on our communication and services. So thank you for letting me know I did not communicate to you what I was doing and why. I know it is too late, but I will try to explain to you why we did what we did on that day. The technician took Dolce to the back to get a wei... read more
We have used East Maryland for several years now and think the vets are very knowledgable and the staff extremely friendly. however, we have had 2 big health scares with our dog and each time the vet takes the dog to the back to do an examination, then a technician will come back to the waiting room to explain the findings and review the bill for services rendered. Often times the tech cannot explain what the vet did behind closed doors or what every line of the bill represents. As a client, and someone getting ready to sp... read more

(Note: I have taken every animal I have ever owned to EMAH since the 1980's and will NEVER go back) The facility is very clean and the staff is friendly, I was pretty happy taking my cats here until my most recent experiences last spring which were completely unacceptable. One of my biggest complaints is that they no longer have an on-site pharmacy and the vet techs call to say they "called in the prescription" to this independent pharmacy nearby with inconvenient hours (I don't live near EMAH so it was a pain to make extra... read more

We are sorry that you do not feel this was the case in regards to your most recent experiences. We want to assure you that we take this feedback very seriously and will make any and all nec... read more
Nice people but very slow and behind schedule. It is fine if you have at least 30 minutes to pick up your pet from being boarded or wait 45 minutes after your scheduled appointment. They will tell you 5 minutes but take 20 minutes. I'll find a vet who values my time.
Business response:
Thank you for your feedback Leland. We know your time is valuable and we make a sincere effort to see every client on time. Emergency cases do however take priority and inevitable appointment delays occur. We apologize for not better communicating the delay and will be sensitive to this in the future. If you wish to discuss anything else, please do not hesitate to contact us at your earliest convenience.
