(Edited to address the misleading and inaccurate comments by EMAH in response to the review) I absolutely would not recommend East Maryland Animal Hospital. Our first vet seemed competent but the second one we saw, Dr. Clemons, is terrible at her job. Once she told us our puppy had to lose 4 to 5 pounds, even though she gave her about five treats while we were there (they never ask if they can, they just ask if the dog has allergies). We do utilize the asset of a board certified radiologist to review patients' X-rays, as they can sometimes help to investigate issues beyond the general practitioner's assessment which can be a useful benefit for the pet. I have gone for years but will never go again. The only good thing about this visit was the receptionist. The vet assistant was unfriendly, borderline rude.The vet was worthless. Seriously? You can't find my dogs pulse? You think my dog is too noisy to hear her heart? Then why did I PAY $60??? You can't do anything! You have to look everything up online? Great care for our pup and super understanding when I'm a crazy dog mom. We switched from Banfield and haven't looked back. Update: While I appreciate your response Haley, we had an absolutely terrible experience yesterday. I won't change my rating, as Dr. Schroeder is really great. We will never agree to an appointment with Dr. Clemens again.

Our cat got sick suddenly. His symptoms were not eating, not drinking, sensitivity to touch. We were able to get in immediately. The problem we have is their procedure. After we were shown to our examination room, we explained his symptoms to the nurse. The nurse took our cat from the examination room into the back room immediately. We were left there to wait. We have used East Maryland for several years now and think the vets are very knowledgable and the staff extremely friendly. however, we have had 2 big health scares with our dog and each time the vet takes the dog to the back to do an examination, then a technician will come back to the waiting room to explain the findings and review the bill for services rendered. (Note: I have taken every animal I have ever owned to EMAH since the 1980's and will NEVER go back) The facility is very clean and the staff is friendly, I was pretty happy taking my cats here until my most recent experiences last spring which were completely unacceptable. One of my biggest complaints is that they no longer have an on-site pharmacy and the vet techs call to say they "called in the prescription" to this independent pharmacy nearby with inconvenient hours (I don't live near EMAH so it was a pain to make extra... read more

Nice people but very slow and behind schedule. It is fine if you have at least 30 minutes to pick up your pet from being boarded or wait 45 minutes after your scheduled appointment. They will tell you 5 minutes but take 20 minutes. I'll find a vet who values my time.

BEWARE! This hack outfit is interested in nothing but YOUR MONEY. Had an appointment at 11 a.m. today for heartworm testing and prescription refills for my two Husky's yearly heartworm medicine. 30 minutes before the appointment (just now) they call and tell me "there is a problem" and I will need to spend an ADDITIONAL $150 for a "wellness exam" before they can do the heartworm test. PATHETIC! There is no "exam", just a SCAM for MORE MONEY. NEVER AGAIN! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED Yelpers!

I have my puppy on the puppy plan and I was behind $50 and without a single phone call they canceled my puppy plan by sending me a letter. This place is ridiculous. I will never take my dog back here again .
