After only having my unit five months they increased my monthly rate by 80%! In what industry does an 80% rate increase happen? Even in these inflationary times this is exorbitant! After reading other reviews I now realize this is their normal practice. So, what they do is advertise a low rates to attract new customers (they are still listing units of my same size for the same price as I originally paid), wait a few months, raise your rates by a huge amount, tell you market rates have increased so they couldn't maintain t... read more

WARNING: LOCK TAMPERING, MICE FECES, AND RECURRENT RATE INCREASES I've been a customer with Extra Space Storage at this West Sac location for over five years. In that time, I've had three different storages--all of them 1st floor, climate controlled units. Like clockwork, every 4-6 months, the company sends me a rent-rate increase notice for my storage units. I understand their policies and taking out individual insurance on the units rented. But when it comes to negligence on their maintenance on a roof that ruined a lot of my possessions because of water damage due to recent rain storms is not very business like. They would do nothing to accommodate me. I had to rent another unit for them to fix their problem. In short their customer service sucks.

Do not do business with Extra Space. On 7/15/2022 the Extra Space facility in Terrell, Texas, (unit 0346) fraudulently levied a charge of $207.80 against my credit card. I have never been to Texas, and I have never done business with this company. My calls and emails to the corporate headquarters and to Unit 0346 were never answered.

My rates have gone up almost 70% in one year. I've had two price increases in the past year. This company is a "bait and switch". They lure you in with a good rate, than immediately beginning raising (mine an $80 increase every 6 months). My beginning rate was $150 and I'm now at $310 after 365 days. Their lease conditions are PREDITORY! They will respond with jargon about "month to month" and "market rates", but that information is buried in small print within a long contract. I called the 888-Storage number that Emily provided to discuss my issue, but it is only an automatic response that directs you back to the facility manager who I have spoken with already as mentioned in my review.

This place looks to get you in and then raise your rates after 2 or 3 months. Went to extra space looking to hold a few extra items to avoid clutter. I had saw other people mention that they give you a price and then raise your rates. I asked the management about this many times and they assured me that there may be small increases around 6 months to a year. Straight trash the manager there straight con artist! I HIGHLY SUGGEST THAT YOU DO NOT RENT HERE LET ME REPEAT DO NOT RENT HERE! The manager straight swindler he straight suckered us in by charging us 190.00 for a 30"x10 so we couldn't nor wouldn't want to refuse. Inconsistency. Prices changes and extra fee's when finalizing paperwork. I don't care for that and so I actually cancelled my signing up because it was shady. Tell me bottom line now, don't have me show up and then you tell me it's on the third floor when I said I needed first floor. I'm a small female of color and I don't feel comfortable wandering elevators and long hallways at high elevations by myself. Just to get me there and get my money, I was misled.
