be careful with extra space storage on sherman. have used other extra space in other counties never a problem, however, sherman street, raised my rent, locked my family out while i was out of town, and did not notify me until i showed up in person. no email notices other than a rate increase which i paid not knowing they had locked me out!!! when i came to get my stuff out, they actually put me on a short time limit even though i offered to pay!! corporate should seriously consider making replacements as the people working a... read more
The elevators for this facility are large, however the design of the building is terrible. Trying to get a couch through the hallways is impossible. There's no room. It's ridiculous. I feel like the facility is secure, it's gated and has plenty of cameras every where. Everything is pretty clean as well. Auto pay online is convenient but they have raised my monthly rate three times in less than a year. What has happened to this place??? I stored there for about 8 months last year and never had a problem. I especially liked the customer service I received from one individual there who I do not see anymore. Now my bf just moved here from NY and we needed storage space again. It has been a nightmare! They are remodeling the offices but that shouldn't make a difference in what goes on there. One of the three elevators is not working, who knows when that will be fixed. Wow where do I start with these people. The day I moved in unloading my truck I noticed the maintenance person rummaging through the trash binds for about three hours so I approached him, he freaked out being busted not doing his work and ran to the office. As I was leaving the Manager told me I up-set him and never to do that again. Avoid this place if at all possible. Not only is the area a bit sketchy but so are many of the clientele. Even worse, the rate you pay will start sneaking up on you without any notice. I am now paying 2x what I started, only one year in. Ask them about it and they simply don't care at all about customer satisfaction. Crappy as it will be, I am actually looking to move my stuff to a new facility just to not be paying them anymore.
I am paying 4x the rate that a new customer would pay for the same unit. There have been regular increases in my rate every year. This is probably the modus operandi for storage places, as they know any one who stores their belongings has few options. Being a long term customer only hurts you here. There are many empty units, so it is NOT a supply and demand situation. My fault for not dealing with it sooner. I see from other reviews that this is the way they keep their profits up.
I'm not an actual customer but I was cleaning out a storage unit for someone. For my one day being there, my experience overall as ehh...The place is ok. I do like the fact that the place doesn't have normal gate hours and the guy at the front desk was courteous but I was given a bad impression with a bad encounter with one of the employees. I had movers to help me empty out the storage unit. They were determined to finish as soon as possible. And I will take some blame for not leaving ample amount of space in the hallways ... read more
I tried calling this place to get a quote on a storage space. After sitting on the automated phone menu for ten minutes, I was finally placed on hold. And then I hung up. What the hell kind of storage space needs all of that? Just have someone to answer the damn phone. No business for you. And no stars either (except one because yelp is making me).
Stephanie the lady at the front desk is GREAT. My one star review is not about her. I wish the rest of the place was as good as she is. My complaint is about the service elevators which frequently break down or are tricky to get to work and the BAIT AND SWITCH BS they hit you with as a a customer. They charged me $50 a month for my unit and then never told me that a scant 4 months later they would be jacking the price up. THAT IS NOT ETHICAL. It might be legal but its bad business and stinks.
