Of all of the facilities I have rented from, Extra Space Storage has always had the most competitive prices for the spaces offered and the hours of access. My only complaint about this facility is the inconvenience of having to reserve a cart for after office hour use.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After dealing with Price Self storage Pacific Beach , this place is like a reward, their rates are better, their terms are better, their past dues are more lenient, and they don't mandate your credit card on file so they can yank payments out , when it is due on the very first of the month!

As my wife and I were moving, we needed a storage unit. This Extra Space Storage facility seemed to be in a convenient location, so we checked it out. The employees Mike and Jerry couldn't have been more helpful. It was our first time renting a storage unit, and Mike immediately made us feel at home. We got plenty of space for the money. I have used many storage places in my life so far. Extra Space Storage has great Customer service! Even helped me with my lock when any other place would have just charged me 20 bucks to get a new one. Great 1st month rates! No secret charges etc. The price they gave me over the phone was really the price I paid in person.

My experience with ESS: 1. I went to their website. 2. I indicated I wanted a unit near my zip code. 3. They gave me a comprehensive list of options which I narrowed down to the size and location I desired. 4. I indicated I wanted to reserve it now, and set my move-in date nearly 3 weeks out from now. 5. I paid $20 to reserve it and get the 1st month rent free. 6. The place is decent , but they will Jack up your rates in a ridiculously unfair manner once you're settled in . They raised our rate 30% after 3 months . I would not recommend .

AVOID AT ALL COST. I rented a 5x10 unit for ~$80/month in June 2025. I noticed recently that the rent has increased by about 100% (doubled) and did not know about it as it was on auto payment. They said they mailed a notice to my home, which I never got. It's very telling that they send out office closure notices via email but do not send something like a rent hike via snail mail. 30% price rise is to be expected. Also expect to move your goods several hundred feet to/from your vehicle. Also, there are never any carts to move your stuff. Expect to spend 20-30 minutes rounding up a cart. Many complaints have resulted in zero response.

I went from paying $140 to $214 after 5 months which is ridiculous...the floors are carpet so it smells bad and it's extremely hot, no AC inside the storage units. The elevators are constantly going out and I have to go around and about to find one that works. You'll also find the homeless encampments around the building with used needles on the floor by where you park.
