DON'T GO HERE I've had the same storage unit for over 8 years. Never had an issue. Now this company Extra Space Storage buys the building, jacks up my rent by double without telling me - so I fall behind on the rent and BOOM my stuff is up for auction. They don't care about people or situations at all. Buyer beware , company practice is get you in on a promo rate and 4 months later increase it by $100 . I booked online with no disclaimers they just sent a letter notifying rent is increasing . Classic bait and switch

do not rent from this place!!! worst experience of my life. when you get through the crowd of homeless people using drugs openly you are greeted by a manager who likes to throw her authority around. she acts as if she owns the place and has no one to answer to. When I made a reservation through corporate she denied me and told me that I had an "incident" there. I have been renting a unit on E Main St in El Cajon for going on 2 years. They sold the unit as an internet special but after a few months they raised the rent. I am now paying 334.00 a month which is outrageous. The manager Victor is not very helpful. I recently lost my job as I have long Covid and have been unable to pay. WARNING!!!DO NOT USE EXTRA SPACE STORAGE!! I would give negative stars if I could. This place is full of thieves. Not only are the owners thieves, but they work together with their insurance company to steal from people. They will enter your unit without your permission, they will love your belongings and not tell you, and they take no responsibility for anything you might be missing. The facility is nice and relatively secure. However, after three months of leasing from them, they sent a letter letting me know they would be raising my rent by 87% with minimal notice. While I acknowledge the right to adjust pricing, such a significant increase in such a short rental period seems unreasonable. It makes it difficult to trust their rental policies, and I feel I need to actively search for a more reputable property that prioritizes client protection and fair pricing.

I received a call that my storage unit got broken into today, along with others in the Solana Beach location in CA. I drove down to the unit, and some of my antiques had been stolen along with tax papers with my social and bank records. I am scared for my life because these thieves now know everything about me and where I live. I was surprised to find no cameras inside the building, only outside. DO NOT GET A UNIT HERE for SO many reasons. 1.) there are homeless people EVERYWHERE. They camp right outside of the facility in large numbers. They are scary, aggressive and dirty. It doesn't feel safe. 2.) the staff doesn't care about their customers or their jobs. THEY ARE UNDER-QUALIFIED FOR THE JOB and need training in customer service. Terrible costumer service all around. Employees in the office were very sarcastic and rude. They also don't notify you when they start charging you extra for the storage space. I would rather drive around with all my junk than rent another space here.
