You can’t beat it. Our favorite place in Nevada City area
Toward the back is best, but even there, far from perfect. Friar Tucks and many other restaurants in town need to improve the acoustics in the dining areas. Most customers are retired or seniors with various degrees of hearing loss.
Dinner for two was generally ok, but my prime ribs at $38 was a huge disappointment. I ordered it as it’s something not made at home. Plate way too small with 4 sides piled on top of one another. Beef was not hot and when server came by just after meal was set down, I had not tried anything yet. Meat was room temp, not acceptable and the sides also could have been hotter. This is one of our favorite places to dine…Great service and ambience..worth the 1 hour drive.
Great restaurant and great live music every night
The food was outstanding. Best New York steak I've eatin in a restaurant, cooked perfectly with no extra fat to trim. Brisket hamburger and Salmon also excellent. Our waiter was attentive and even brought me a complimentary birthday dessert to go! We sat by the kitchen and the noise was a bit much for us. Warm bread and butter are not served before the meal so we missed that a bit but overall the restaurant was an excellent choice to celebrate my 67th birthday.
Great food, extensive menu. Several of us ordered a few appetizers instead of an entree and they were plentiful and tasted great!

Eating at the bar is delightful. There is high energy and that’s where the live music is too, making great energy for a date night. The booths are spacious and good for big groups. But the food leaves you wanting as well as the service staff.
