Terrible. I had never been to GJ, I have a salon I prefer. But for my bridal shower I was given a small gift certificate and decided to use it. I went on Friday 03/18/16 asking for an ash blonde balayage with hints of rose gold. My hair is naturally red/orange and it looked exactly the same after wasting THREE HOURS. Not a hint of blonde. I went in Friday, and my daughter had an appointment on Saturday of this week. First, I'd like to say that even though I forgot her name, my daughter's experience was wonderful! The lady who did her hair was amazing for calming my 5 year olds nerves. My appointment however, was a less than satisfying. The color I wanted for my hair is not the color I left with. I don't have a problem with the stylists that I use. What I do have a problem with is the lousy customer service that I received while checking out today. I had been in two days before and had paid the new $2 environmental fee (which I had been told by my stylist was voluntary). When checking out today I asked if I could wave the fee since I had paid it two days ago and had been told that it was voluntary. I was then told that it was not voluntary and had to pay it. I have been a regular client for 25 years. My haircut is now $70. I am very unhappy with their new $2 recycling fee. I asked for it to be waived and my request was denied.
I have been to Gene Jaurez a couple of times and I've always had very good service. This time I went in for a full foil and cut. The gal who did the full foil was nothing but rude to me. She kept telling me that she had to wake up early for this appointment and kept yawning and telling me that she was tired and just wanted to sleep in. She created absolutely NO conversation with me! I have been going to Gene Juarez for 18 years. No more. Aside from the fact that my last haircut was awful, (and it's not complicated. Bottom only trim, no layers, straight. But I got an uneven end which looks like I cut it myself) no fewer than three other employees came to talk to her during my appointment about her next two appointments. They've completely lost their client service and turned into a factory. Never again
Will NOT book with Erica (Hair colorist) again!!!!! Very disappointed with the results and the price I had to pay for. Went in with black hair...asked for a mixture of blonde beige color balyage. And Came out with black hair with barely noticeable brown strikes. Was told that it was not achievable what.kind of services was that.....Could have done it at home with drug stores hair dyes
The customer service person called and offered to give us a decent discount on the scheduled services. Honestly, I was just planning on returning the lack of courtesy I had been shown by not making the appointment. I'm glad it worked out, and my daughter likes her hair. I still feel very strongly that the assembly line business model they are using degrades their brand. Something needs to be done about the disappointing turnover with the talent, too. I've been going to Gene Juarez (nearly monthly) for over 10 years and I'm done. I will preface this by saying I absolutely love the girl who colors my hair so it's hard to leave her but the issues with Gene Juarez just keep piling up and their latest $2 fee per service for their "green" initiative is the last straw. My other complaints are echoed by many who have reviewed this salon. It takes forever to schedule an appointment on the phone. Hold times are terrible. I always show up on time for my appointments.
