Had a very disappointing experience here. Won't bother with details, but after two disappointing trips (the second to fix the first one), I went to Ulta to get my hair done the way I had originally wanted it, and the stylist there did it exactly how I wanted it, professionally, and at a much better rate. GJ is cozy and posh, if you're into that, but their services and products are overpriced and I felt like I was being ripped off.

It's happened to me three times now - I have a special occasion coming up and decide to upgrade my hair cut from my usual $25/cut (very good) stylist and get something "special" at Gene Juarez. I go in with pictures and a lot of explaining about what I want, and end up leaving wishing I had stayed with my tried and true stylist. My stylist left Gene Juarez, but I still see one of the colorists for my Balayage. While I love my colorist - I am really disappointed in Gene Juarez. THEY ADDED TAX onto my service. I have been going here for years, driving out of my way from Mukilteo to go here because of loyalty to my stylist and colorist and the salon has now added an extra fee to my already pricey service. I have gone to Gene Juarez for years - most recently the Northgate Salon and have received excellent service. Yesterday, because of time conflicts, I scheduled an appointment with the University Village salon. When I explained the hair cut that I have been receiving from staff at Northgate, the University Village staff person said that the cut would not look very good, would not be right but if I insisted she would do it but it would not look good. I walked out yesterday with a haircut that I didn't really like. I thought it didn't look youthful enough but figured that was because Traci spent a really long time blowing it out and maybe it was just over styled for my taste. The more I look at my hair the more I'm seeing that she really didn't do what she said she was going to do. The layers are way shorter than we discussed and they aren't blended well. terrible customer service, wait times to make an appointment are endless, sometimes you are cut off. i have a wonderful stylist, but the frustrations are almost too much

While I loved my stylist and colorist I have had nothing but problems with the scheduling and front desk people for years. The price is premium and I am willing to pay but with that should come first class service. At my last appt. I booked my next color and cut. Two weeks before I got a call that my colorist would be on vacation. OK-understandable. Then I get an e-mail confirming the 2 appointments. I went there for a facial with a friend. They do NOT run a hygienic and clean facility. When they brought the 'neck warmer' at the very beginning, I it smelled rancid, but I wasn't completely sure (certainly not what I was expecting!). They laid the neck warmer against my skin (not the collar of the robe), and then after 5 minutes, my facial started. Let me start by saying I had very high expectations for the Gene Juarez salons! I needed my hair color adjusted after not achieving my desired results at home. Thus, I searched Seattle for a high end salon assuming they would employee only the "best" colorist and stylist at their salon. WRONG!
