The woman who did my hair, Mary, was very rude and did it in under 30 minutes for my hour long appointment. She was very rushed and seemed to be in a bad mood - which she took it out on my hair. I'm really disappointed because this was already an overpriced haircut to begin with, and I have to go somewhere else to get it fixed.

Business response:

Dear Savannah, I am so sorry about your most recent experience with Mary and we are more than happy to provide a complimentary redo service within two weeks from the original service date. Please contact me at 425-748-1462 or colleens@genejuarez.com and I can assist you with scheduling. Sincerely, Colleen

I really wanted to like this place and also realized that it would be pricey because it's in uvillage. So I'm not going to talk about prices here. The one star rating is for 2 different experiences (one color and one hair cut). The first was regarding hair color a few months ago. I have been looking for a way to blend my grey so that I would not have to keep dying it constantly and it was during my 2nd time with the hair colorist (and I think her name was Zeeland) that she suddenly leaves me in the chair waiting for 45 min... read more

I was a walk in today to the downtown salon and scheduled a blowout. They started 30 minutes late and didn't tell me it was going to cost $90. $90 for a blowout. You've got to be kidding me. I'm going to leave terrible reviews on all the salons websites because this is insane. Next time tell the person that the blowout is going to be $90. That way they can laugh in your face As they leave to go to a different salon or a blow dry bar. I'm never going to another GJ salon again despite the fact that I live two blocks away from ... read more

Business response:

Dear Tiffany, I apologize that the front desk staff member did not tell you the price of your Signature Blow dry when you scheduled your appointment today as our prices range from $50.00 to $125.00 depending on the artist that you see

Went in today to get a classic shellac manicure with removal and they turned out very bad. The nail technician (Keiko) could not figure out how to soak and remove the shellac color I had on before, which is strange of a nail technician. She soaked my nails in some liquid for 20 minutes, at which point my skin started to burn. After she realized that was not working, she then proceeded to file off all the previous shellac. Do they not have acetone? It was very damaging to my nails. Not only that, but she didn't remove all of ... read more

While shaming me for doing my own hair, I was asked to sign a contract to ensure I wouldn't sue if something went wrong with my hair. Instead of fixing the section that I had dyed on my hair-part, the stylist completely avoided this section and dyed the rest of my hair. This was apparently to avoid damaging my hair further. Sure enough three weeks later, the grow-out is ridiculous and it looks like I never went to Gene Juarez in the first place. $200 later, and it looks like I need to go back again. I decided to give them ... read more

Business response:

Dear Allyson, I don't know exactly what happened but I will try to assist you if you can provide me with your contact information. A Corrective Color Form is not to protect the company from being sued. A Corrective Color Form is put into place to educate the client that the service we are providing today will not have the desired end result in one visit and multiple services may be needed to achieve the desired end result. In addition the service requested could compromise the integrity of the hair, could be inconsistent an... read more

I am confused that the Gene Juarez salon site touts "be assured that you'll get the same impeccable service every time" when that is so far from the truth. I had a bad hair experience at the Silverdale salon after showing a picture of what I wanted to the stylist. The first time that I had gone back to the salon after a hiatus was about 6 - 8 weeks ago it was a good experience with good service. I got a great cut and color. At my follow-up appointment I wanted the balayage a little lighter, and I noticed the first time in th... read more

I came here for a full balayage, and the front of it looked fine. However, most of the back of my hair was basically untouched and still extremely dark, on top of the fact that my stylist shamed me the entire time for having done my own hair. Not a positive experience, and would not come back here ever again. Total rip off and unkind staff.

Over due review. Went here in 2015. The lady was unexperienced and left me under the dryer for way too long. I wanted just a little bit of blonde and a short cut. Nope, my hair was fried. Not only that, she cut way too much off and left no layers. My hair did not feel that "silky smooth" salon feel after you get your hair done. It was so coarse and burnt I had to get it fixed. If you are looking to get your hair fixed, Jennifer at Tallulah East in Bellevue has a 5 star Yelp review and she fixed me hair beautifully. She tak... read more

Saw McKell last night at 6pm for hair coloring. Worst experience. She was not friendly at all, didn't show me photos of coloring choices, or explain what she was doing, just did it. I left with gray chunks in my hair and strands thru out, the old previous color on my ends still there - not covered by new color. She told me I didn't have to pay for it. Took me to the front desk where Ziba told me I had to pay $97 and can make a follow up appointment to have it fixed. She asked me over and over again did I say exactly to ... read more
