I was running 10 minutes behind so I called Gene Juarez to let them know and was told that I was fine as long as I was there in 15 minutes. I arrived within 15 minutes and was told that they couldn't accept me (meanwhile stylist is standing next to receptionist) because they changed their grace period. Apparently my call was routed to their call center and whoever that answered it gave me the wrong info. Super inconvenient and a waste of time. I've been a loyal customer for over 20 yrs so I'm disappointed I had to get resche... read more

Business response:

Dear Susan, We have a Contact Center that answers the phones for all 10 of our Salon locations and we have a grace period of 10 to 15 min depending on the service being provided and the service provider. If you would like to talk with me personally about your experience please contact me at 425-748-1462 or colleens@genejuarez.com and I will try to resolve this for you. Sincerely, Colleen

Came in for a simple trim to clean up my split ends before a trip. I told Roxanne that my biggest concern was how thin my hair is, and I was comfortable with a tiny bit of layering as long as it didn't make my ends feel sparse. She ended up layering it to death so my longest layer is SUPER thin, and even cut a really big chunk in a short layer so I feel like I have no hair on one side (the other side looks ok, even though it's a lot more layered than I wanted). Now I have to wait 6 months to get my hair back to where it was,... read more

Business response:

Dear Natalie, I am so sorry about you experience with Roxanne as this is not typical of the quality services she provides. We are more than happy to redo the service complimentary within two weeks from the original service date. Please contact me at colleens@genejuarez.com or 425-748-1462 and I can assist you as I am sure that there is something we can do to make this better for you. Sincerely, Colleen

This one-star review is for my last appointment. The salon itself, imo, is first-rate but this experience was so unpleasant that I need to share this. I made a last-minute appoint to have my hair re-colored. My regular colorist, Peyton, was unavailable, so I booked an open slot with X, who'd done my hair a half-year earlier. X asked me how I was. I answered that I'd gone through some changes since 6 months ago, including a recent loss, but was back on my feet. Her response: "So what are we doing with your hair?" Later, w... read more

Business response:

I was once very loyal to Gene Juarez, their stylists used to be fantastic. Unfortunately this is the second time I've gone to a Gene Juarez salon with the intention of getting a simple haircut and the stylist hasn't been able to see me. The first time it was at their Alderwood location and now University Village has pulled the same BS. When I went into Alderwood I should have been scheduled to lighten my hair and get a haircut but the front desk scheduled me for a completely different service! As a result I sat in a chair a... read more

Business response:

Dear Kayla, We are sorry to hear about both experiences you describe. We would have absolutely tried to write our wrong at our Alderwood salon by escalating your experience to our GM and provided a follow up service with another artist. We appreciate the second chance you gave us and regret your experience was not much better. While we do have a very strict late policy, I am sure there is something we could have done to accommodate an appointment with another artist or on a different day. Please contact us directly at our Un... read more

Sadly this location is no longer dependable for consistent excellence. Having been a long time client, and assuming all employees train 'the gene juarez' extra, I mistakenly put my tresses in the hands of a receptionist recommended 'newer' colorist (Parker). I was assured the color would be consistent as the 'recipes' are captured in client files, etc. and that Parker was advanced and well trained. Parker seemed nice when introducing herself and all, made niceties, and asked what I was trying to achieve in the visit. I was... read more

Business response:

Lacking in all areas of expertise. If you're looking for a sign, this is it. Save your time and money. I've been silver/blonde for a little over a year now; so the condition of my hair has already been deteriorating, what with all the processing already done. I went into Gene Juarez for one final root touch-up, a last hurrah if you will. After three sessions ($150 and $170) including a color fix (no charge), THIS was the outcome. Just to get my roots touched up, I'm now half purple, half beige, and my blonde has completel... read more

Business response:

Dear Lori. I do apologize for the situation that occurred and I know that you were working closely with the GM to resolve. Please be assured that he followed up and reeducated and redirected all staff members involved. Sincerely, Colleen

Messy manicure and pedicure. I had to ask her to clean it up. Plus, no hand and foot massage as it was described. I received the spa from my spouse, therefore, did not realize it supposed to include the massage, hence, no complaints during the service. I called Gene Juarez to explain the situation, yet, all I got was "I don't know what to say". Hmm....I have been to many spas. This is by far the most disappointing one. I've never expected anything for free. However, when I paid for a service, I do expect the service to be do... read more

The woman who did my hair, Mary, was very rude and did it in under 30 minutes for my hour long appointment. She was very rushed and seemed to be in a bad mood - which she took it out on my hair. I'm really disappointed because this was already an overpriced haircut to begin with, and I have to go somewhere else to get it fixed.

Business response:

Dear Savannah, I am so sorry about your most recent experience with Mary and we are more than happy to provide a complimentary redo service within two weeks from the original service date. Please contact me at 425-748-1462 or colleens@genejuarez.com and I can assist you with scheduling. Sincerely, Colleen

I really wanted to like this place and also realized that it would be pricey because it's in uvillage. So I'm not going to talk about prices here. The one star rating is for 2 different experiences (one color and one hair cut). The first was regarding hair color a few months ago. I have been looking for a way to blend my grey so that I would not have to keep dying it constantly and it was during my 2nd time with the hair colorist (and I think her name was Zeeland) that she suddenly leaves me in the chair waiting for 45 min... read more
