Unfortunately I did not have the best experience here. I felt as though I was talked down to and was told several different things from the start to the finish of the process. This was 6 years ago and we have not gone back for our loans with future purchases.

She spoke to me originally but after filling out my initial loan documents I can't get her to return any emails or calls. In the end it was very frustrating and a waste of time to work with her.

Business response:

Julia, I'm so sorry you feel you had a bad experience while working with me. Somedays I get bombarded with emails and I don't see that you ever followed up via email. Phone calls and/or text messages are probably the best way to get in touch with me regarding a preapproval or loan application. I did take time to work on it for you and if there is anything more I can do, please let me know. I have emailed you as well regarding this. Again, I apologize! If there is anything I can do or any other way I can help, please let me k... read more

I don't recommend GSF for an FHA refi loan. They may be ok for a regular loan--I don't know, so I can't comment on that. I waited a week for a GFE which I never got. A.N. was the loan officer. He is v. friendly, answered phone calls and emails in a timely matter, but besides this, we got nowhere. The underwriter apparently didn't know how to write the contract to refi an FHA for another FHA for a multifamily house that is no longer owner occupied. I believe A.N. genuinely tried to help and we have had great communication, bu... read more

Business response:

~From the GSF Management Team: We apologize that your expectations were not met in applying for a loan with us. Our underwriting staff was working on an exception for a un-owner occupied FHA streamline loan for you and that takes just a little time. We do hope that your service needs and rate and fees are what you expected with your new lender. Thank you for the feedback, we do take it seriously and look for ways to improve our process here.

Please note that while we had a very poor experience with GSF Mortgage, they are a long tenured reputable organization. The lone purpose of this evaluation is to let the consumer know that their industry is experiencing very high volume of new and re-financed loans, and we feel that this contributed to the following facts/evaluation. We applied for the loan on or around Oct 12, 2012 and closed on Dec 12, 2012 which was an unacceptable two month duration. Problems encountered during this time frame:- While the mortgage loan o... read more

DO NOT TRUST THEM! I was pre-approved by GOGSF last year in June. I admittedly had a tough situation. That is why I wanted to be pre-approved before I wasted me and my families time and patience. I sent GSF EVERYTHING….. "Everything" is the best way to describe it. I sent it to them BEFORE I went to look at a house. My loan was pre-underwritten by Corina Metz who signed off on my loan and said that the loan was good to go and said that I wouldn't have a problem getting my loan approved once I found a house. Now….. 7 months l... read more

Business response:

From the GSF Management Team: We were sorry to hear about your experience and would extend the offer to talk to our President, Chad Jampedro, regarding the situation. You can contact him directly at contactus@gogsf.com. Unfortunately, the loan officer who was helping you is no longer with GSF and we apologize that the information was not given to you. From an underwriting perspective, while a loan can get an initial approval, the circumstances changed and we weren’t able to provide final approval. We are sorry we couldn’t pr... read more

The contact person - Michael failed to follow through adequately. He completely forgot all the information I had provided to him on our initial call. I got tired of repeating myself over and over again. He did not follow through with any written quotes. Very disappointed in this lender, and would never recommend to anyone else.

Business response:

From the GSF Mortgage Team~We are very sorry to hear about your experience and we wish that it would not have been so frustrating for you. The loan qualification process can be lengthier at times when extra documents are required before proceeding. We are sorry that we weren't able to provide you with a mortgage at this time. We would be happy to look at your scenario again in the future. Thanks for considering GSF Mortgage.

Getting to closing was a terrible experience. We closed the end of October. We received instructions at closing that our loan would be sold and as of a certain date to send payments a different company and their address. Subsequently received another letter that the loan had been sold to Fannie Mae but would still be serviced by GSF. Over the past week I have made 4 different phone calls, calling the customer service phone number listed on the mortgage bill; the first three I was on hold for at least 25-30 minutes each time,... read more

The entire process was aggravating and tiring. In the end they were unable to get their act together enough to close. Sharyn seemed to be knowledgeable when I first talked with her on the phone. I felt comfortable with her and decided to do our loan with GSF. Unfortunately its not the sales agent, but the underwriter that determines you mortgage and GSF has some BAD underwriters. With a debt-to-income ration below 20%, an LTV at 77%, and a house in the most desirable neighborhood of Massachusetts, this should have been an ea... read more

Business response:

From the GSF Mortgage Team~ We are sorry your experience with GSF was not satisfactory. We do take this very seriously and wish the transaction would have went smoother for you. With more stringent rules in the industry over the past few years and investor overlays that demand extra documentation, our underwriting department has to follow stricter guidelines. Our management team is always on the lookout for opportunities to ease the requirements, if they can, and are sorry they weren't able to come to a mutually acceptable c... read more

Run, do not walk away from this company. It took them weeks to respond to my original inquiry and I should have known. They requested the same documents multiple times and by different personnel. It certainly appeared that the left and right hands were not talking at all. The suggested mortgage fraud at one point due not being able to understand deposits and checks being written. I declined the mortgage fraud attempt and after many months we finally closed. Only to have the documents they prepared not be correct when sent to... read more

Business response:

From the GSF Mortgage Team~We appreciated the opportunity to speak with you regarding this review after you posted, thank you for taking the time out to talk with us.We were disheartened to hear of your experience. We pride ourselves on our prompt customer service and strive to satisfy all of our customer’s needs. We are sorry that your expectations were not met. Unfortunately, underwriting loans with special circumstances take longer and need more( and sometimes different) documentation than others, but we do look at every ... read more
