Dr. Giles fed our senior Yorkshire terrier two different medications to prevent fleas, ticks, heart worms, and mosquito-related illnesses that each had diarrhea and vomiting as side effects without telling us about this risk. Our poor dog has been sick all day and losing a lot of fluids. He's been crying NONSTOP for the better part of the day and barely had an appetite. If we had known about the risks we either would have said no or we would've requested another form of prevention treatment. We're on our way to an emergency ... read more

Business response:

We hope that Mickey is feeling better and is settled into his new home! While the flea, tick and heartworm medication we recommend for all of our dog patients does carry a very minimal and rare risk of vomiting and diarrhea, upon review of our notes and records from Mickey's visit, there were a few factors that could have contributed much more strongly to the reaction you describe. A long flight such as the one that Mickey underwent shortly before his visit to us, in addition to changing the type and brand of dog food upon a... read more

I don't know if it was just the vet we saw (Scott) but this place sucks. They were late to bring us back and did a crappy exam. Missed tartar on our cat's teeth now he has to go to another vet to get them cleaned. Who knows what else they missed. Rushed, unprofessional, inadequate vet. Don't come here.

First I'll start off by saying DO NOT take your pets here ! My dog had an odor coming from his mouth so I decided to bring him to the nearest clinic . Unfortunately I landed on this place . My dog isn't the easiest to check inside of his mouth, so with that being said the DR on site made the most minimal attempt to even try ! She said she saw something in the back of his mouth and prescribed antibiotics . So 5 minutes and $150 later I went on home . Completely dissatisfied ! Nothing helped via antibiotics so I called back a... read more

I WISH I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE ZERO STARS. Note that they tried to take down my review saying it's a "conflict of interest". There is no conflict of interest. We took our cat Binx there for his annual check up. We used to go to Newton animal hotspot am but recently moved to Needham so this place was more convenient. We saw Dr. Scott. First of all when we brought Binx in the vet tech said she was going to "borrow him for a bit". So naturally we thought ok cool we will put him onto the table in the room we were in and she... read more

Awful. Very unprofessional and they don't inform you of what they are doing. Cruel to pets who are a little more challenging instead of trying to calm them. They don't seem to care about the pets or owners just about getting the job done.

I have been a client for 4 years for grooming, their veterinary services, and even their pet hotel. They are great at what they do and have taken good care of my dog. However, lately it has been impossible to schedule an appointment for grooming. After a month of trying to get a hold of them, i finally got an appointment but it was a complete disaster. Do not schedule with their groomer Nancy, as she is rude and disrespectful. She is not good with animals, or for that matter with people either. Try to schedule with Carrie or... read more

I'm sure they do nice work, but I was made to feel like if I had to ask then I can't afford the services. I have two new kittens that need to be seen for first shots. The employee started shooting off numbers per shot, when I tried to get a tally, she said" sorry,I wasn't counting" well I have two young kids, bills, a mortgage so I am counting. Wish I had a blank check for you. So cold.

I boarded my cat this past weekend and I am totally upset with the treatment my cat got. I was PROMISED a large cage (actually one of their cages that is like two of the small cages with a walk through so my cat could stand up and walk around. When I arrived they said that that cage would be free in a few hours and then my cat would be placed there. I called back in a few hours and they said there was no problem and that they were making the larger cage ready to transfer my cat into. I went on a four day vacation and whe... read more

I started taking my dog here when we moved to Newton 6 months ago because it was easy to get an appointment and I needed a convenient place to board my dog. After a number of unnecessary required appointments for various vaccines that cannot be given during his stay at the kennel, I am now looking for a new facility. This place is VERY expensive. The staff here seems to really try to drive the price up for basic care. The last time I took my dog in for a sore on his leg, the vet ordered unnecessary tests and antibiotics and ... read more
